In Season: Big Ol' Garden Smoothie

Lately, in this In Season series, we're taking a look at what I take home from Crooked Sky Farms each week and see what I've done with my CSA share, or part share. This week I'm using that extra bag of greens (spinach would be great here) and frozen or fresh fruit.

This was inspired by reading that some celebrity drinks a green smoothie every day. It got me thinking that I should try my greens in a blender, rather than my more usual green juice with tart granny apples.

This was nice and sweet. It did have a bit of an earthy flavor to it and my dainty lady burps had a cabbage essence to them. And I did feel good, though, that I had loaded up my morning with loads of plants. That's always a very good thing. Next time I'd like to change it up with some pineapple. Use what you have and what you like.

Big Ol' Garden Smoothie

Ingredients

Banana

Peaches, frozen (about 1 cup)

Blackberries, frozen (about 1 cup)

Spinach or other green (even lettuce works here), big handful

Almond Milk, (or your favorite milk) not quite to cover

Stevia (or your preferred sweetener), to taste

Water to thin to desired texture

Place all ingredients into your blender and let it rip. Don't stop until it's completely incorporated and smooth, about 2 minutes.

Pour into a favorite glass and enjoy right away.
