The 40-foot x 25-foot city of sweetness with the theme "Christmas in Whoville," the fictional town created by Dr. Seuss and appearing in the book How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, features Oreo cookie streets, Whoville candy cars, moving carousels, and Whoville residents made of mascarpone and pastillage.

The resort's pastry team led by Executive Pastry Chef Kaushik Chowdhury, who scored a bronze medal with his crew, Team USA, at the 2010 World Pastry Team Championship, spent over 800 hours (twice the time of last year's effort) on the sugary masterpiece which features 800 pounds of gingerbread dough, 250 pounds of chocolate, and 250 pounds of candies, gumdrops, and cookies.

The Christmas in Whoville gingerbread village will be open to the public now through Sunday, January 1, in the grand lobby of the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa located at 5350 East Marriott Drive in Phoenix.
