Where Am I Eating?

WAIE 87.jpg
A couple weeks ago I enjoyed a nice Japanese style lunch with a few of my favorite co-workers in a beautiful converted historic house in downtown Phoenix. Unfortunately, I didn't take notes, so I can't tell you the name of this shrimp dish. I can tell you that it was light and perfect for lunch. Do you know where I'm eating?

Email the correct answer to whereamieating@newtimes.com  and I will randomly pick a winner from all of the correct guess and send them a prize. This week, I have a $25 gift certificate to Coach & Willie's.

Last week I had a perfect lunch at Chelsea's Kitchen in Phoenix.  Three people guesses correctly and they are all going to the Muller-Kuhrs Oktoberfest. Congratulations goes to Jill Ballard, Mindy Speas, and Anthony Ried. Have fun guys, drink a beer for me!

Nobuo at Teeter House.  Love that place.

Speaking of Chelsea's Kitchen, I've only been there a couple of times.  They have a nice patio, so maybe I'll give it one more shot as the weather cools, but my two visits there have been about a C-.  The first time there, shortly after it opened, I was disappointed in a lack-luster menu and slow service.  Another attempt about a month ago found a greatly improved menu.  I specifically asked our server if he had ever had a French Dip at Houston's (Hillstone).  He said yes, and that Chelsea's French Dip was just as good or better.  I beg to differ!  The beef was good, but the roll could not compare to Houston's on any level.  And the fries that came with it were limp and soggy. For the same price, go 6 blocks west and get the best French Dip in Phoenix.

Nobu Teahouse (I think that's how you spell it) in Heritage Square.
