Dominick's Steakhouse in Scottsdale Quarter Opens Today -- Extends Middle Finger to Recession With Six-Foot Chandeliers, Poolside Dining, and Complimentary Organic Cosmetics

Suck it, recession.
Mohair-upholstered ceilings, a 3,000-bottle wine cellar, two pianos -- with the opening of Dominick's Steakhouse today in the Scottsdale Quarter, it's like the slumping economy ISN'T EVEN HAPPENING!

Courtesy of the Mastro group, the 10,500 square foot, 350-seat, two-level luxury dining destination, hopes to "fill a void in the market and serve as a compliment to local fine dining establishments such as Morton's, Eddie V's, Bourbon Steak, and Ruth's Chris."

Along with a luxurious atmosphere including a rooftop poolside dining room with heated tables, a lavish women's bathroom offering complimentary organic cosmetics, and live, nightly entertainment, there's also upscale fare.

Created by executive chef Marc Lupino, Dominick's Steakhouse will feature classic steakhouse, seafood, and Italian specialties including a chef's cut, prime-aged filet, braised veal shank, Idaho rainbow trout, Maryland-style lump crab cakes, baked clams, veal parmesan, and fettuccine alfredo with classic side dishes such as au gratin potatoes.

The atmosphere is great - that of a Goodfellas kind of scene...I had the Sea Bass and sauteed mushrooms.  Yum!!

What a major dissapointment. The food was truly bad. Steaks overdone, fries burned, spinach with too much cream. The dessert choice is very limited and way too big portions. In fact they are so discustingly big that you do not want to eat them at all.The prices would fine if the food was up to par. I will just never go back and 4 friends who tried it said the same thing.Being a chef, I know what I am talking about.

My family went Tues. before Thanksgiving.  Six of us, and bill was about $800.  Beautiful restaurant, terrific service.  Food was awful!  Sent back some orders, should have sent back entire meal.  Cold $8. baked potato, med. rare steak was well done (49.95),  fish was over breaded, and taste like paste inside; baked clam app. tasted as if prepared 3-4 days prior and nuked!  I could go on.  Management, could care less.  Would highly rec. any other steak house.

The restaurant is beautiful, and the service was great. The food was good, My husband and I had the scallops, they were good, BUT not much flavor beyond the flavor of the scallops. The sauce they were in had NO flavor. As we walked in thru the curtain we thought what a classy place, only to hear music BLASTING, we asked them if they could turn it down, when more people showed up, the music finally was turned down. A classy restaurant should only have low back ground music, so people can talk to each other. This place sounded like Applebee's.

I went to Dominic's on Thursday night for the 1st time.....walking into the restaurant was the  WOW factor....but after that no so much....the flow of traffic between waiters and customers was ridiculous! are you kidding me? we;re all using the small stairway to the open roof patio...why don't these employees have an elevator? poor flow....our waiter was not warm and fuzzy, no personality, not friendly...I had to ask him his name...in a upscale restaurant  like this one, waiters should introduce themselves with a smile on their face...strike 2....the food was fair except for the rib-eye...we ordered the veal cutlet parm special, should have sent it back...overcooked,no so tasty....and last but not least....TOOOO LOUD!!!! can't have a conversation at all! you have to yell across the table! This is a one shot deal for us...the Ocean Club and Captial Grill are much better in my opinion. Not worth the money!

This restaurant was amazing! The food was exquisite and the service was top notch.  I highly suggest that people visit this establishment if they are seeking a dining experience that leaves you saying wow.

Wow, nicer than I would have thought.

The Quarter seems to be weathering the recession well all things considered.
