Turn Up the Heat
Gas up the car and grab a snack, then embark on your journey to the depths of Mesa for the Eighth Annual Hatch Chile Festival. Way out on Power Road between Elliot and Warner, the tiny Mesa Farmers Market will turn into a Hatch chile haven this Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market expects to go through more than 10,000 pounds of chiles in various heats from mild to extra extra hot. The fresh chilies are brought in fresh from Hatch, NM (The Chile Capitol of the World!) will be sold in 40 pound bags for $38 each -- have them roasted on site for just $7 more. If you're smart you will grab two -- once you go Hatch, you never go back. There will also be a handful of local vendors peddling their salsas, fresh fruits & veggies, and tortillas. If you can't make it out to Mesa this weekend, be sure to check your local Food City or Ranch Market to snag a bag of roasted chilies before they're gone.
It's time for football! If you're having people over for opening game day this weekend, whip up this cute version of seven layer dip
. It probably won't stay in its football field form for long but at least you can impress your friends with your cleverness and creativity (we won't tell them where you found it).
