The Strand Urban Italian, Silk Asian Chop House and More Coming Soon to Downtown Phoenix
| Carol Blonder |
The Downtown Phoenix Partnership unveiled the second annual Downtown Dining Guide Wednesday at the recently opened Westin Phoenix Downtown. It was a chance to graze on offerings from six downtown restaurants and learn about what's up next for the downtown dining "district," ambitiously dubbed "Arizona's Urban Heart" after the name Copper Square never quite caught on.
Promises of Italian fry bread (a "new take" on pizza) and fine Asian dining were made over chicken Cuban bocadillo from Province, yellowtail sashimi from Nobuo at Teeter House and peach cobbler from Karim's Cobbler Shop and Deli .
Learn about Strand Urban Italian and Silk Asian Chop House -- opening in the fall -- and more, after the jump.

There are 21 new listings in this year's guide, taking the total eateries, listed by cuisine, to 120. The print version is intentionally smaller, designed to roll up and fit in a pocket. There is still a fold out map with light rail stations and parking facilities marked. The guide will be available at area businesses, can be ordered online and appears in PDF, digi-book and will be on an updated SmartPHX.com app.

Anticipated fall openings listed in the guide include The Breakfast Club, Huey's 24/7 Diner (burgers, fries and big easy favorites), Rasputin Vodka Bar (a Jason Doyle restaurant and lounge concept) and Bowl of Greens (fast casual Mediterranean).
