Two Days of Overeating for Charity
Hey early birds! Drop everything you are doing and get down to Two Hippies Pizza & Burger Joint for their 1st Annual Eat-A-Peace charity eating event.  How many slices of pizza do you think you can shove down your throat in 12 minutes? Now is your chance to find out. Registration starts at 10 a.m. today and the event starts at 10:30 a.m. Push the limits of your stomach as you challenge members of the Phoenix Fire Department in a timed pizza eating contest featuring Two Hippies giant slices. There is a $30 buy-in but all of the proceeds go straight to the United Phoenix Firefighters Association Charities and the winner will get a trophy, a fire department ride-along and gift certificates for more pizza.

Pizza eating sounds a little overwhelming? How about frozen yogurt? Tomorrow, June 25th, Mojo Yogurt at Tempe Marketplace will be holding what is said to be Arizona's very first frozen yogurt eating challenge. The $5 entry fee not only gives you the opportunity to crush the competition as you shovel heaping spoonfuls of frozen yogurt into your mouth, it also gets you a coupon for a free 16oz fro-yo, a one day pass to the AZ on the Rocks rock climbing gym, and the satisfaction of knowing that you helped needy kids at St. Jude's Hospital (100% of the proceeds goes to those little buggers). Register on the event's Facebook page right here.

It's Electric!
Did you know that when you hook up an electrical current to a pickle it glows? This was the first we had heard of it. Thanks to the Seattle Food Geek you can watch a quick video of a pickle, a piece of bacon and a bowl of soy sauce gettin' the juice. It's a good way to kill a few minutes of your Friday.
