Barrio Café's Silvana Salcido Esparza to Open Two New Restaurant Concepts in Scottsdale
It looks like Silvana Salcido Esparza, chef and owner of Barrio Café, is planning a move to Old Town Scottsdale.

The Arizona Republic reports that Esparza's two restaurant concepts, slated to move into the SouthBridge space in Old Town Scottsdale that previously housed Metro Brasserie, will come about in November. The first will be called Silvana (a nod to Esparza's grandmother), a "Euro-Mexican" restaurant that Esparza describes as "on the elegant side of Mexican cuisine," and will feature such dishes as lamb steamed in a bag made from maguey cactus, duck confit tacos, chile colorado, and jalapeños stuffed with salmon escabeche. A few Barrio Café favorites may also find their way on the menu.
Attached to Silvana, the second concept, Barrio Queen Tequileria, is more of a casual affair, serving up goodies from tacos to tortas and including a healthy offering of margartitas.
Of course, there is a "deal-breaker."
According to the Republic, a sidewalk patio must be approved by the city of Scottsdale before Esparza will move into the empty Metro Brasserie storefront. SouthBridge developer Fred Unger has said he's hopeful the issue can be resolved.
Silvana is already a busy lady, whose plans for next year include opening a restaurant in downtown Gilbert as well as another unnamed concept at Sky Harbor's Terminal 4.
