Now Open: Betty's Nosh Mushroom Bar
Thankfully, that's not the scene at the new Betty's Nosh mushroom bar at 6681 West Beardsley Road in Glendale, which launched with a soft opening in late April. The place is more like a trendy, laid-back wine bar, with a bright red color palette, a partially open kitchen and a mushroom bar area where guests can look at their funghi being stuffed.
Betty's menu includes burgers, classic sandwiches like chicken cordon bleu ($8) and pulled pork with cole slaw ($9), Caesar salads, and small plates such as prosciutto-wrapped chicken ($4), salmon cakes ($6) and flank steak with port reduction ($7).
The main attraction here is the mushroom "bar," which allows guests to customize the toppings on three large stuffed button mushrooms or one giant portobello. For $7.50, chef Ray Romeo will dish up shepherd's pie shrooms, pizza-style shrooms with sausage, carbonara shrooms or one of over a dozen other pre-designed options. Picky eaters can design their own plates from a range of meat, sauce and cheese options.
Lunch and breakfast selections are also available (including a Sunday omelet bar), along with $3 miniature pies and creme brulee desserts.
Betty's Nosh officially opens on Monday, May 9. Anticipated hours are 7a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7a.m.-11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
