On April 30th at 7 pm at The Icehouse, the NYC based non-profit Slideluck Potshow is coming to Phoenix to bring their community-focused event blending food and art.

The name is a mash-up of the words slideshow and potluck but this is not your typical slideshow and potluck a la tuna noodle casserole and your aunt and uncle's trip to Bermuda with their new camera. It's an innovative gathering where 200 - 2000 art and food loving folks bring homemade dishes to share while making new friends and enjoying a night of local art (of all mediums and professional levels) presented as a series of 5 minute inventive slideshow/storytelling presentations for a total of 90 minutes of visual celebration. Artists range from fine art professionals to your neighbor who paints at night in their garage.

Slideluck Potshows started back in 2000 when Casey Kelbaugh hosted the first in his Seattle backyard for 50 of his friends. He is now based in New York City, where Kelbaugh assists other cities around the world in hosting these events and has even started a youth program and a green initiative.

If you want your work to be considered, submit it here. Artwork submission deadline is Monday March 21, 2001 at midnight. Curators for this show will be Method Art owner Danvin Lavikka and Wayne Rainey, professional photographer and owner-partner of Bokeh Gallery. More details about this event can be found here.

If you're coming, you have to get a ticket; get them here.

For this event, you're encouraged to use ingredients from The Downtown Public Market, there are recipes to try on the Slideluck Potshow website. You might also be inspired by checking the recipes from our In Season series.
