Payton Curry Unveils New Restaurant Grub at Twestival Phoenix 2011 Tomorrow
| Chef Payton Curry 's "Guerilla Gourmet" |
Petite Maison and Big Earl's BBQ will be in attendance. Chef Payton Curry, formerly of Digestif and Caffe Boa, is offering a sneak peek at the food he'll be serving at his new restaurant -- tentatively due to open in two weeks, on April Fools Day.
The name and address of the new eatery will remain a secret until Thursday evening after the deal is signed, but Curry tells New Times that it will be a temporary location aimed at serving food to other industry professionals. The recently reinvigorated chef plans to do all of the cooking himself, and stay open during non-traditional restaurant hours.
Curry's Guerilla Gourmet brings upscale food made with fresh, local ingredients into the community and into people's homes. As part of the project, Curry is offering private dinner parties where he'll come to your house and prepare a gourmet meal using this week's best farmers' market finds. Unlike similar "private chef" concepts, the host doesn't foot the (likely pricey) bill for the bash. Instead, each diner is given his or her own check.
If you're interested in getting a first taste of the food Curry will be serving at the new restaurant, which he half-jokingly calls his "therapy," head over to Scottsdale Mall tomorrow and enjoy samples of foie gras, fresh McClendon Farms veggies and a brioche-raisin dessert made with rendered duck fat. Tickets for the Twestival range from $10 to $30, and proceeds benefit Child Crisis Center.
