New 32 Shea Welcomes People and Their Pooches

Years ago, web developer Rebecca Golden saw a space at 32nd Street and Shea that she knew would be perfect for the cafe of her dreams.

"I know that neighborhood, and there wasn't a place to go and hang out," she says.

As soon as it was abandoned by its former tenant, Golden pounced on the opportunity, and faced stiff competition in getting the lease. But it must've been destiny: her business, 32 Shea, opened on Saturday.

It's a pet-friendly spot where folks are welcome to hang on the 25-seat patio with their pooches while sipping coffee from local roaster, Matador. Inside, she's got another 18 seats, along with a menu of egg dishes, sandwiches, salads, smoothies, and pastries created by a local chef. There's also a drive-thru window.

In the spring, Golden hopes to get a liquor license to serve beer, wine, and select liquors, and to expand hours into the evening.

32 Shea, at 10626 N. 32nd St., is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. For more info, call 602-867-7432.
