Pie Social: Meet Our Reader Judge!

Categories: Events, News

Our call for a final judge for Saturday's Pie Social drew some wonderful responses, including my personal favorite:

Pie-Ku Haiku

Crisp, light, flaky crust
Filled with fruit, nuts, or meringue
Makes my heart rejoice.

Alas, the haiku-er did not leave an email address, a requirement that disqualified several entrants.

But we have tasting tickets (and a few other goodies, too) for everyone who did follow directions (and okay, we'll leave some for the poet, too) -- just show up at the registration table Saturday and give the lovely ladies there your name to claim your prize.

And now, with no further delay, we'll introduce our fifth Pie Social judge -- after the jump.

Congratulations to Corey Dunlap.

Corey is a local foodie, nominated by his pal Eytan at The Phoenix Knife House. According to Eytan, Corey is "culinary trained," looks good in an apron and Saturday's the day he cheats on his diet.

Perfect.

He'll join our esteemed judges' panel, which includes: Kenny Barrett of the Roosevelt Growhouse; Chow Bella resident chef Carol Blonder; Louie Moses of Moses Anshell; and Gwen Ashley Walters of penandfork.com and Phoenix Magazine.

Pie Social will be held Saturday, November 13 from 2 to 6 p.m. at 5th and Roosevelt streets in downtown Phoenix. Donate $10 in exchange for 5 tasting tickets (proceeds benefit after school programs) or bring two pies in exchange for tasting tickets.
