Number 41: Santa Lucia pasta at Marcellino Ristorante
This happens every time.
I sit down at Marcellino, order up some wine, drool over the menu, and think I might've whittled down my choices of what to order. It's never easy.
And then, just when I think I'm on the verge of deciding, the waiter shows up with a platter of handmade pastas to show me, describing how each one will be the centerpiece of a different daily special. The pasta that always sounds irresistible is the over-the-top Santa Lucia. Yes, it's a special, but a regular one that chef Marcellino Verzino has been serving since the original days of the restaurant when it was still on Northern.
It's a heap of squid ink fettuccine tossed in lightly spicy tomato sauce, embellished with a boatload of fresh seafood -- clams, squid, mussels, and half a lobster.
Better than sex? Almost . . .
