Number 84: Coronado Coney at The Main Ingredient
It wasn't hard to fall for The Main Ingredient the first time I set foot in the place -- owners Matt and Courtney Diamond have created a laid-back, cozy atmosphere fit for sipping wine with a foxy friend or knocking back pints with a gang of pals. The Diamonds always have a good roundup of regional beers on tap and a digable soundtrack of old school hip-hop mixed with funk and indie rock.
And they've figured out that a really kickass hot dog goes well with beer or wine (or maybe that's just me). One of the star items on the menu, the Coronado Coney, pays tribute to the Coronado District where the restaurant is located with a juicy jumbo all-beef frank from Schreiner's Sausages (just up the street), red onion, and spicy Humboldt Brown Ale mustard. As if that weren't enough to make a killer dish, they put it on a sturdy toasted sourdough roll that really makes it special.
Sink your teeth in and have another drink.
