Joe's Real BBQ to Offer Breakfast on Weekends

But here's something to actually look forward to this summer:
Joe's Real BBQ in downtown Gilbert will start serving breakfast on weekends, beginning May 22.
Co-owner Joe Johnston -- whose other Gilbert restaurants, Liberty Market and Joe's Farm Grill, already offer breakfast -- says the challenge for the 12-year-old barbecue joint was coming up with menu items that fit its speedy cafeteria-style service but still adhere to its high quality standards.
Thus, cooked-to-order eggs, pancakes and waffles are out.
Instead, look for scrambled egg platters and breakfast burritos with smoked meats. Besides its usual chicken breast, pulled pork, pit ham and chopped brisket, Joe's will introduce breakfast sausage, smoked bacon, smoked chicken wings and brisket hash.
Other items include a baked egg dish with bread, cheese and meats, as well as biscuits and sausage gravy and -- according to Johnston -- a delicious corn bread and gravy combo. Side dishes range from Joe's signature barbecue pit beans to raspberry bread pudding.
For dessert, there's blueberry cream cheese coffee cake. "We're trying to have different offerings than The Farmhouse and Liberty Market (both located across Gilbert Road from Joe's)," Johnston says.
Everything on the breakfast menu is under $10. For example, scrambled eggs with choice of meat, two sides and bread is $6.99. A cup of coffee is just 25 cents.
Breakfast will be served 8 to 11 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
