Number 98: Pasties from Cornish Pasty Co.

Just like that killer bruschetta I blogged about the other day, the brilliant thing about pasties is how craveable they are at any time. Cornish Pasty Co. gets bonus points for having a great selection of beers to go with 'em. And look at how portable they are!

Of course, I'm ready to dig into a pasty with a knife and fork just as soon as it comes out of the oven. The tender, golden dough is just sturdy enough to contain a dinner's worth of goodies inside, like carne adovada, lamb vindaloo, or a whole Thanksgiving meal in a bite (The Pilgrim contains roast turkey, sweet potatoes, grilled onions, stuffing, and gravy, with cranberry sauce on the side).

Being a creature of habit, I tend to order the Shepherd's Pie pasty most of the time. It's old-fashioned meat-and-potatoes comfort, with melted cheddar cheese for extra bliss.

The Favorite Dishes, so far:
99: Clams in Black Bean Sauce From Asian Cafe Express
100: Bruschetta From Postino
