Chef Beau MacMillan Hosts WestSide Throwdown Cooking Competition

Categories: Events

Ever notice how the best culinary events are all in the East Valley or downtown Phoenix? Scottsdale Culinary Festival, Devoured, Taste...I could go on and on. For years, foodies on the forgotten side of town have been wondering when they'll finally get their turn.

Enter The WestSide Throwdown, from 4:30-9 p.m. on Monday, March 22 at Arizona Broadway Theatre, 7701 W. Paradise Lane in Peoria. Six West Valley chefs including Glenn Humphrey of the Arizona Culinary Institute, Tim Fields of Sushi Roku and Josh Hebert of Posh will go head-to-head in a culinary battle, with proceeds benefiting the Careers through Culinary Arts Program. There will also be monster trucks, the Bud Girls and Harley Boys, live jazz music, tequila tastings and tasty grub.

Need more incentive? We've got three great reasons to be there, after the jump.

  1. The timing
    - WestSide Throwdown is literally right after the Mariners v. Oakland A's bout down the street at Peoria Stadium. So even the most die-hard Spring Training fan has no excuse.
  2. The host - Beau MacMillan of Food Network's Worst Cooks in America will be emceeing this whole shebang. If you haven't dragged your lazy butt down to the revamped elements yet, this is your chance to see the popular local celebuchef in person.
  3. The poster - Intothesoup.com's awesome comic book style ad for this event makes cooking -- and the participating chefs -- look H-O-T. 'Nuff said.

Tickets are $35. Buy online via the ABT site or call 623-776-8400.
