Just Desserts: The Quest for the Valley's Best (and Sexiest) Valentine's Day Treat Continues at Scratch Pastries

In the end, we get what's coming to us. Let's hope it's sweet.

Let's face it, folks: Valentine's Day, when it comes to that special someone, is as much about love as it is about the possibility of some horizontal hokey-pokey. So why do we get all Ron Jeremy with gifts of candy g-strings, chocolate body tattoos and strawberry-flavored nipple dust? Hold the edible handcuffs, Baby, this year we're sweet on seduction.

Our quest for the Valley's best (and sexiest) Valentine's Day treat continues at Scratch Pastries.

When we asked Scratch to give us their top three Valentine's Day goodies, we received a triage of tasties: One dark chocolate macaroon, a red velvet cupcake, and something called a mogador (a cake with a chocolate sponge cake bottom, soaked in raspberry syrup, topped with a layer of raspberry jam, a layer of chocolate mousse, and a glossy raspberry jam glaze). The macaroon, although oozing dark, rich chocolate, was too big and gooey for our liking. The red velvet cupcake boasted a fabulous cream cheese frosting but fell short on its somewhat dry and mediocre cake meat. The medalist? The mogador. We couldn't get enough of this perfectly-pretty taste tower of fluffy chocolate and raspberry goodness. And at $5.50, it's a cheaper, more flavorful, and classier way of saying, "Let's do the Big Nasty," than a chocolate shower bar.
