Opening Next Week: Long Wong's at the Firehouse

Tempe certainly lost some major mojo when longtime Mill Avenue hangout Long Wong's closed a few years back. In its heyday, there was no better place to eat a burger and some wings, knock back a few cold ones, and watch local bands kick out the jams.

But now the same folks who ran that popular restaurant/music venue for 24 years are about to open Long Wong's at the Firehouse, on Apache at McClintock (1639 E. Apache, 480-967-0167).

Avi Sadote, who was involved with the old Mill Ave spot, is partnering with Ron and Andy Goldstein to "duplicate -- but in a much larger scale -- what we had on Mill." He says they'll open by the end of next week, pending final approvals from the City of Tempe.

Look for a familiar comfort food/pub grub menu, expanded to include pizzas, organic salads, and wraps. There will be a full bar as well.
