Monday Night Martha: Who Doesn't Like a Cookie?

We've got to hand it to Martha; the lady knows how to make a cookie. With hundreds of cookie recipes in her repertoire the hardest part can be deciding which one to try first. Luckily we had the help of a cute little girl with definite ideas about what she likes and doesn't like.

After a selection process that relied on the tried and true thumbs up or thumbs down method as we clicked through cookie pictures online, we were able to settle on Double Chocolate Coconut Cookies.

With ingredients like cocoa powder, white chocolate chunks, sweetened flaked coconut, and coarsely chopped walnuts we were happy to bring these cookies to fruition.

Double chocolate coconut cookies are drop cookies of the chunky and nutty variety. Our six-year-old baking partner helped with all the measuring, pouring and stirring.

When we first took the cookies out of the oven after the appropriate time they still looked a little soft, but we followed Martha's instructions to let the cookies cool for two minutes before transferring and the consistency seemed perfect.

The texture between the coconut and the walnuts is great -- though perhaps a bit less chocolatey than we would have expected. Equally awesome with a cup of coffee or a glass of cold milk, and in our opinion not overly sweet.

We asked our helper for a comment and she offered us this.... "Yum."
