Looks like Phoenix is really growing up this year, at least when it comes to alcohol. Local wines are gaining popularity, new brewers are opening shop and P-Town is finally getting its own tequila festival.

Elias Entertainment Group, the same company that produces Phoenix's Christmas Mariachi Festival and the Las Vegas Tequila Fest, is bringing the 1st Annual Phoenix Tequila Fest to US Airways Center this weekend.

Chow down on grub from Macayo's Mexican Kitchen and America's Taco Shop while sampling a variety of premium Añejos, Reposados and Blancos distilled from the blue agave plant. The event also features live entertainment and seminars on cooking with tequila.

After a few hours of downing tequila shots, you might be worried about getting home. Luckily, your ticket to the festival doubles as a pass for the light rail -- aka the "Tequila Express."

These guys really thought of everything.

The Phoenix Tequila Fest runs from noon-5 p.m. on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13 from 1-5 p.m. Cost is $35 per day. 21-and-over only. Check back on Monday for full coverage of the festival. (Yes, we're getting sloshed for your entertainment. It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it.)
