Secret Supper Club Finally Hits Phoenix
Better late than never, I say.
A few different people in town have talked to me recently about wanting to start something here, but now they've all been beaten to the punch by the soon-to-debut Culinary Mischief (love that name!), whose private feast for 30 lucky guests will be taking place on December 5 at a Central Phoenix art gallery.
Who's behind this roving, bimonthly culinary shindig?
Chef Gabe Bertaccini, owner of Il Tocco catering company, is the host. "I went to one of these dinners in L.A. and thought, 'Why we don't have it in Phoenix?'" he says.
Bertaccini already got a test run with a dinner he held in an airplane hangar, and future Culinary Mischief events will take place all around town at private lofts, art galleries, and other unique locales. The location will not be revealed until days before the event, when guests will be emailed a map.
Bertaccini, a native of Florence, Italy, who also lived in Paris and Munich before moving to the Valley four years ago, will be cooking six courses of Italian cuisine, to be served with six different wines. The menu will be a surprise, although a sample dish might be Tuscan veal stew with creamy soft Taleggio polenta, red wine, vegetables, and truffle oil.
So, how do you go about getting an invite to Culinary Mischief? Check out the website and be sure to send an email to get on the list. February's secret supper is already in the works.
