Lots of New Local Eateries in the Works
AZCentral's list of 20 new restaurants scheduled to open by the end of the year has suddenly been changed to 15 since the story was posted yesterday. Not hard to figure out which five are now missing -- it's the restaurants on Jackson that Bernie Kantak is planning. Should we read between the lines and assume that the project's gotten pushed out to 2010? Let's hope not.
A bunch of new Scottsdale eateries are reportedly in the works: Yellow House, a bakery and breakfast place; Iguazu, an Argentinean restaurant; Sam Fox's Culinary Dropout and Modern Steak (haven't steakhouses jumped the shark?); an Italian joint called Marcella's; and a fusion restaurant called Parc Central.
In addition are places that Chow Bella readers are already in on: chef Aaron Chamberlin's St. Francis, opening in a month near Central and Camelback; Matt Carter's Asian spot and gastropub, Nine 05 (formerly Fate) and Canteen; Hula's Modern Tiki, going in next to Lola Coffee; James Porter's Petite Maison, a French country bistro in Scottsdale; the "green concept" Calistro California Bistro at DC Ranch Crossing; Cullen Campbell and Brandon Crouser's Crudo (location TBA); Tracy Dempsey's pastry cafe Galette Dessert Bar (location TBA); and Nobuo Fukuda's new izakaya, whose name and location are still off the record . . .
