New Restaurant Round-Up

Categories: Chow Bella

Somebody recently mentioned restaurant closings to me, and I had to wrack my brain to think of the most recent casualties. For now, the news is actually pretty upbeat -- the last month has seen a flurry of new restaurants opening in the Valley. Here's the lowdown.

Second Line Creole Cuisine opened in South Phoenix a little over a month ago, followed by downtown's PastaBar, whose menu is evident in the name. Open Gallery Bar & Grill debuted near 7th Ave and Camelback, with a Caribbean-Soul Food menu. A new pub called The Turf opened last week next door to PastaBar, and Hippies Cove took over the old Tacos del Mar on Mill Avenue in Tempe. Scottsdale's Regions Bistro & Bar is new, as is Scramble, a breakfast joint on north 7th Street. Doc's Place Music & Supper Club opened in the former Johnny's Uptown location at Central and Camelback. The first Corner Bakery Cafe franchise in town debuted in Peoria. Sapna's Cafe started up on Grand Avenue. And Hurry4Curry, a fast-food Indian restaurant, just opened for business at the Arizona Center.
