89! I hear this is the best score ever given to an Arizona wine (Callaghan's 2001 Syrah scored the same). Not bad for a debut label, huh?

Wine Spectator rated Arizona Stronghold's Nachise in a recent Super Bowl feature where the editors rounded up 22 top wines (a la 22 players on the football field) that wouldn't break the bank and go well with comfort food:

ARIZONA STRONGHOLD Nachise Cochise County 2007 Score: 89 | $20

Ripe and smoky, but there's a very tasty, pure core of cassis and blackberry fruit underneath, along with additional spice, licorice and mineral notes. This has a solid grip. Like a Châteauneuf. Impressive. Syrah, Grenache and Petite Sirah. Drink now through 2010. 978 cases made. Red

Not familiar with Arizona Stronghold? Get thee to a Whole Foods, my friend! Buy a couple bottles of Nachise, then settle in at your laptop and read this feature story I wrote about the winery's endearingly wine geekish owners, Eric Glomski (formerly of David Bruce Winery) and Maynard James Keenan (who doesn't need an introduction to millions of rock fans, but in case you haven't listened to the radio in awhile, he's the lead singer of Tool). Trust me, you'll want to drink a glass or two when you read about them.
