Vote for Maya Dailey for White House Farmer

Categories: Chow Bella

A few months back, the New York Times magazine published a special Food Issue, with an intriguing essay by Michael Pollan, an "open letter to the Farmer in Chief," explaining why the President-elect should consider national food policy a matter of national security.

It inspired the Brockmans, a farm family in central Illinois, to take matters into their own hands with a website for nominating and voting for a White House Farmer. Local organic farmer Maya Dailey, a regular at the Downtown Phoenix Market and a purveyor to many local fine dining spots, is one of the nominees selected from across the country. The names of the three farmers with the most votes will be submitted to President Obama, in the hopes that maybe he'll consider choosing an official White House Farmer.

Voting continues through January 31 at www.whitehousefarmer.com
