Coming Soon: The Kitchen By Good Eats Grocer
After six months with the lights off, the freestanding building that formerly housed Dish -- part of the Shops at Gainey Village, at the southeast corner of Scottsdale and Doubletree Ranch Roads -- is about to get a second wind. A new company out of Sacramento plans to open The Kitchen By Good Eats Grocer there sometime during the first week of February. (The website, thekitchenscottsdale.com, isn't up yet.)
Scottsdale will be the first location for the combination take-out/dine-in food emporium, with a second planned for Sacramento sometime this spring.
Sarah Solari, The Kitchen's marketing manager, says the new spot will be similar to Dish, but with a number of improvements.
An artisanal bakery, hot sandwiches, salads, a hot grill, and wood-fired pizzas will still be part of the mix. There will also be a center island of prepared foods, as well as charcuterie, cheeses, and ready-to-grill meats.
They've done some remodeling to create a full retail wine shop with an in-house wine steward (an eclectic selection in the $15-30 range), took out some walls to open up the rear dining room space, and expanded the outdoor seating. Solari says they're also introducing pizza by the slice, an upgraded coffee and espresso area, and improving the cold prepared food section.
