Beer brewing workshop next week
I just found out about this really fun-sounding beer-brewing workshop coming up next week at MADE boutique and The Lost Leaf -- and it looks like there are still sign-up spots available:
DRINK UP! beer history, brewing, and tasting with Jeffrey Haines
Tuesday, March 11 & 18, 6:30-8pm, $40 for both sessions, supplies included, at The Lost Leaf and MADE
Discover the labyrinth of ales and lagers with brewing guru Jeffrey Haines. This workshop will not only take you step by step through the process of home brewing but will cover some basic history of beer brewing in America, different types of yeast, and an overview of the wide range of beer styles and how they're made.
Come back the next week for a blind tasting to compare varieties of homebrew to some signature beers from The Lost Leaf's 70+ beer collection. Those with a particularly refined palette can try their hand at naming the beers for the chance to win a $25 gift certificate to MADE. Participants will go home with some serious beer brewing expertise and a couple of the Pale Ales demonstrated in the first session. Don't miss this chance to become a brewmaster right at home!
Instructor Jeffrey Haines has owned the Brewers Connection in Tempe since 1998 and serves as the largest home fermentable supply house in the state. He has taught many courses in the past including 'Designing Beers', 'Water...what is it?', and 'It's Not Sterilization, It's Sanitation'. His shop carries over 30 different types of hops and has collected over 50 different homebrew recipes that he's looking forward to sharing with you!
