Joe Arpaio, Richard Malley, Robert Crooks, Harry Hughes and Rusty Childress' New Nativist Group "Remember 1986"

When it comes to Arpaio, Crooks has expressed support for the sheriff previously on his Facebook account. When I contacted him recently, he told me he was in Yuma, and didn't have time to talk.

On the date of the Malley incident, Crooks posted a message to his FB account, stating that,

"At 13:00 hrs two Maricopa County sheriffs visited...They asked me if I was armed: "I said: yes, I was"; They said: "GOOD" and left..............."[sic]

Malley supposedly had his run in with the deputy later that evening.

In 2007, Crooks courted infamy with two videos purporting to show a nativist shooting at illegal immigrants (otherwise known as "human beings").

The second actually resembles a pseudo snuff film.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Crooks emailed the first out to other minutemen, writing, "This video shows how to keep a 'Home Depot' parking lot empty."

Crooks initially denied that he had either made or posted these pseudo snuff films. Later, he owned up to creating them.

"Who in their right mind is going to shoot a smuggler, videotape it, then post it to YouTube?" he asked a San Diego TV station at the time.

The first version of the Crooks video

The Crooks videos have been the subject of much speculation, but I don't buy them as actual snuff films.

Though he may seem like a marginal character, Crooks has been interviewed as a sort of nativist spokesman by the media more than once, most recently in a June interview with Channel 5/KPHO.

Crooks was participating in a demonstration with nativist playboy Rusty Childress' new organization "Remember 1986."

Childress, who used to run a car dealership in Phoenix begun by his daddy, was at one time the leader of United for a Sovereign America, a local nativist group which mainly exists these days as a website.

Well Well lets pick on Robert Crooks from what 1986 and a post lately, i assure  them on this site that can't see through their own bitterness, and hatred for themselves, must look to blame others without looking within himself to find the real problem of their unhappiness. If you have been looking to find their balls only to find raises, then it time to work with Robert so you can grow some, and some character as well. Little boys looking to be something because they are nothing and believe that they can fool others to believe they are real men.We are waiting on the sonoran right now to help you begin to be real men and be respected by the rest of us.

whatever Malley's bail was, i am sure it was cheaper than his funeral could have cost his mother. no matter how you look at it, the guy is lucky to be alive. i have to hand it to the deputy, he kept his cool and kept if from being a story about another officer involved shooting or one about a officer being shot. nobody would have faulted the deputy for shooting

The 1986 Amnesty was a wonderful thing and when asked specifics about why it is so hated and feared-there are no logical or factual responses.  It helped our economy and even gave republicans a majority of latino voters until they fucked it up with the "us against them" philosophy that sells so well to the fear mongering mostly white, male Tea Party.

@pete.clark10  It worked out really well.  10's of thousands of new anti-Arpaio voters were registered while Arpaio's racist goons made fools of themselves trying to disrupt the Arizona Constitution and the electorial process.  I call that a failure for racism and a victory for justice.

@dennis20 I was wondering what the significance of the "1986" in the group title was. Thanks for clarifying that. Can't remember something if you don't know what it is to begin with.

The 86 law was a spectacular failure. There were 3 million undocumented people then and 12 million now. 12 million people shamelessly exploited by monied business interests like Danny Hendon and by political whores like Joe Arpaio. The significant portions of the proposed legislation parallels the 86 law. Nothing will be different except many millions more will be exploited in the future.

@jonnyquestThe reasons there are 12 million undocumented people here is not because of the 1986 bill or the people who received it. 1996's NAFTA  and the Sept 11, 2011  have lots to do with it.  Other events like USA sponsored military interventions in Mexico, El Salvador, and Chiapas also contributed to it since 1986 as have our war on drugs which helped crerate the cartels-many who we trained in our military schools (google School of the Americas).  There is little to no evidence that the 1986 amnesty did any damage to this country except help it prosper. Whenever anyone needs a reason to hate on Mexicans for any reason-they use 1986.

The billions wasted on border control in a continent that has not even historically belonged to those who create and enforce the laws is insane.  An open and humane border is not.

The border is a man made nightmare.  Worse yet-it's an open border for corporations thanks to NAFTA but closed to the very people those trade policies hurt. There is no need for the border other than the to support the private prison industry, the military and police complex, HLS, and all these other bloated agencies that need a violent border with people to catch crossing to exist. Cartels are created and become more deadly with every messure and nicle we put into making it impossable for anyone to cross without them. It's a war-mongering society that creates borders on land it stold to begin with.  The billions we spend every year on it is our Karma.

"Legalize work and rights for all workers and the problem is solved. Thats the cheap and humane way to do things.  It's simple.  "

So anyone who wants to come into the country can do so simply because they want to work?

Not trying to start a fight in any way, just really curious where you are specifically on this since your comment seems to say that.

I have no problem with legal immigration and for as needed work visas but not with a blanket like that.

Just because you want to work, does not mean you should be allowed in. That's pretty much what has caused the problems we have now, problems solved by going after the employers who are breaking the law.

Speaking of corrupt politicians, maybe you can explain why the Obama administration has set all time records for deportations while pretending to be the benefactor for the undocumented. Separating families, destroying lives, then blaming Republicans for political gain? And the idiot Republicans take credit for the damage. Obama is playing them like a fiddle, but who is getting hurt?

jonnyquest

It's not the amnesty but the failure to sanction employers that causes harm. These employers pay below market wages, no overtime, and don't provide required safety measures. What happened to Danny's Car Wash should have been happening across the country since 1986. There was no new legislation that enabled the Federal raid on Danny's. IT WAS THE 1986 LAW! Corrupt politicians and law enforcement disrupt the lives of the undocumented while turning a blind eye to the criminal acts of employers.
