Joe Arpaio's Spin Forgets Kris Kobach, Dennis Gilman Reminds Him in New Video

Kobach, the nativist devil in the flesh, "training" MCSO deputies via video

In this new video from videographer Dennis Gilman, Gilman calls Deputy County Attorney Tom Liddy on the spin that the MCSO racially profiled Latinos because that's what U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement taught the MCSO to do.

Joe Arpaio Blames Feds for MCSO's Racial Profiling, and Why He's Full of It

It's a pretty lame excuse, and has zero use in court, but the MCSO must think it sounds good on TV. Like, "Sure, I set that house on fire, officer, but that's what my hoodlum pals taught me to do."

Gilman grills Arpaio attorney Tom Liddy on the MCSO's excuse for racial profiling

It also ignores the fact, as I've pointed out previously, that the MCSO's 287g field authority to conduct immigration investigations was jerked by the feds in 2009.

After that, Arpaio brought in nativist attorney Kris Kobach to "train" all 900 of his deputies in immigration law.

Kobach, now Secretary of State for Kansas, is one of the authors of Arizona's racist Senate Bill 1070, and is almost universally despised by Latinos and pro-immigration advocates. So when you call him in to instruct the troops, you know exactly what you're getting for your $300 per hour.

Speaking of Kobach, check out this segment from Fox 4 News in Kansas City, Missouri, reporting on a peaceful demonstration outside Kobach's home.

Kobach wasn't in, but if he had been, instead of going out and talking to the protesters, he suggests that he would have used his Second Amendment rights to, I guess, shoot someone.

A real sweetheart, that Kobach. Who better to instruct law enforcement than a trigger-happy, nativist goon like him?

...and they are going to appeal it and stand no chance of winning...

They act like it's their own personal money their throwing down the toilet and not the tax payers.

Arizona, the land of fucking idiots that just never learn.

What Arpaio needs is a monitor from the Southern Poverty Law Center.  They have a special program which trains law enforcement officers to combat violent extremists, of which we've got a lot in Maricopa County!  This is what the citizens need to help protect us, not busting busboys, landscapers and fruitcart vendors - but whacko nativist extremists like J.T. Ready and his buddy Russell Pearce.

Arizona deserves this asshole, they just don't learn. Probably why Arizona is ranked 43rd in education.

I wish that those in Maricopa County who continue to vote to keep Arpaio in office would realize that it's not fiscally conservative to keep doing it.  He's costing them millions in settling lawsuits and appealing cases---all of it coming out of the taxpayers' pockets.

I'd like to know where all this money to appeal, not to mention paying out lost or settled lawsuits, is coming from.  Is it coming from county money, or does the county get more money from the state because it's legal costs are so high?  The $103 million that disappered is, by itself, a pretty staggering amount to make up, even for a large county like Maricopa.

Keep up the good work Mr. Gilman.

Personally, it's time to light a fire under Arpaio's ass to remind him what law-enforcement is all about. And it's time to light a fire under the BOS' asses to remind and reign Arpaio in while keeping limited taxpayer dollars in county coffers. And it's time to light a fire under the voters' asses to remind them why they keep voting this corrupt, narcissistic asshole into office.

@cugagcmu80  and thats why the tea party wants the tax exempt status, they dont want to support their hero nor do they want to be on the hook for the money he is costing us all

@HaddieNuff

Sadly, county taxpayers are once again on the hook for the narcissistic asshole's appeal, his legal team, and all the jury awards and settled lawsuits.

@WhoKnows @MaskedMagician1967 Yep, as I understand it there is a $5 million deductible on the county insurance.  I assume that means the insurance only pays amounts over $5 million?

I don't understand why Maricopa taxpayers keep putting the old fool back in office.
