Joe Arpaio's Wing-Nut Supporter John Philip Sousa IV's Hysterical Appeal for Moolah

JPsousa.jpg
Sousa's got one thing right: a fool and his money are soon parted...

Anyone who actually would be proud to be the great grandson of John Philip Sousa, a third rate 19th Century composer of marching tunes whose music could bore you right into a coma, must have a screw loose.

And indeed, committed nativist and Sheriff Joe Arpaio wingtip-licker John Philip Sousa IV is seriously meshugga, but since he's appealing to his fellow wingnutty conspiracy theorists throughout the Internet with these emailed ads for cash, you can bet he'll strike paydirt.

Join the effort to oust Sheriff Joe Arpaio from power.

This latest bit of sucker-bait is on behalf of his independent expenditure committee Americans for Sheriff Joe/Against the Recall, a revamped version of Americans for Sheriff Joe, which during the 2012 campaign raised $2.8 million in order to pimp for Maricopa County's aged autocrat.

Sousa's appeal exploits the recent, lame bomb threat against the Augusto Pinochet of Arizona, suggesting that sinister forces are at work.

"Was this a warning from the drug cartels... or yet another violent act from pro-
amnesty radicals?" Sousa asks. "Either way it's clear: Sheriff Joe's life is in grave danger."

Drug cartels? When has Arpaio ever done anything to mess with drug cartels?

Crikey, Mexican drug lords love Arpaio. All he does is raid Sizzlers and local carwashes to nab dangerous dishwashers, food servers and hose-wielders. Why would "drug cartels" care about them?

You gotta admire the chutzpah of this birther boob's other possibility: "or yet another violent act from pro-amnesty radicals."

Um, "yet another"? What would the first one be, John?

While you're thinking, I'd be happy to mail you a copy of this new tome, And Hell Followed with Her, an account of a fellow foe of illegal immigration, minutewoman Shawna Forde.

She's currently on Arizona's death row for the 2009 home-invasion murders of nine-year-old Brisenia Flores and her father. Maybe you can go visit her in prison and trade nativist talking points.

Pretty much everyone I know on the pro-immigration side of the fence is a pacifist, and unlike the knuckledraggin' haters who support Joe, they don't show up to demonstrations strapped with firearms.

These days what they're strapped with are petitions. It's the democratic process that will ultimately bring Joe low, not Sousa's fantasies of bomb plots by "pro-amnesty radicals."

I'll agree with Sousa on one thing, Joe's life may be "in grave danger." But not from pro-amnesty plots. From his next slip and fall, natch.

That "bomb" would never have even made it to Joe's secretary! And if it actually intended to be a "bomb" it was the most unsophisticated one ever. The fibbies are not even sure it was intended to be a bomb. A joke just like Joe? Yeah.

This great-grandson of  the best band-master in history and brilliant composer of stirring marches is appealing for money. But little does he know that no amount of cash can save Joe from dying of natural causes, much less protect him from a bomb plot or a dedicated cartel hit man.

I was just watching FoxNews talk about this and I agree with them that bomb WAS a warning from the drug cartels....or even from one of you pro-amnesty radicals!  Sheriff Joe's life IS in danger...but he is a strong American Patriot and will NOT run from their threats!      It's the democratic process that has kept Sheriff Joe in office how long now?  And the democratic process in Arizona WILL keep Joe in office until HE decides to retire.  Just a fact of life folks....that's how a democracy works...something a lot of you will never understand.

Another fund raising letter from a twit. I guess the elderly guy's wife must have been busy or the media machine thinks they have overplayed that hand. Regardless, it's all hyperbole that's simply intended to raise funds for the old guy while he withers away waiting to cross the finish line. I know of many folks who would gladly give him a final shove.

He is such an embarrassment to professional law enforcement. Professional peace officers in Arizona cringe when they hear the Geratric Goon's name mentioned. He is known in policing circles as "The Great Pretender".

The MCSO sheriff is mentally ill.

By the way, just to let you know that beginning next week, a petitition drive is being set up to stop the recall of Arpaio. It's like your petition, same thing, except that when we gather more signatures than you do, the recall is over.  And it makes sense.  Look at it this way, if you can start a campaign to recall, we can start a campaign not to recall. We can gather more signatures in way less time and we will have hundreds of volunteers unlike you. We would never have to pay people to collect signatures for us.

Wow. The vitriol is flying this morning. How about some facts:

Per the AZ Republic: “$1.6 million: $0 in indemnity, $1.6 million in legal expenses. James Saville was jailed over a plot to blow up the sheriff and was acquitted…The county recovered $478,954 from its insurance company.”It appears that his is in addition to the settlement payment oF $1,102,528.50.

Yes, it’s technically the BATFE but they still refer to themselves as the ATF. Look at the masthead of their website: http://www.atf.gov/. Even their blue windbreaks still just say “ATF.”

A Law Enforcement Officer’s jurisdiction in AZ is per ARS 13-3871 & 13-3883: http://www.azleg.gov/ArizonaRevisedStatutes.asp?Title=13“The authority of a peace officer may extend…to any place within the state: 1. Where he has the prior consent of the chief of police,..sheriff, … within the jurisdiction or territory.” So an MCSO

Flyer9753

@royalphoenix

I refuse to believe any of this until we see some evidence provided from someone other than MCSO - so far all we have heard is it looked like black powder with some kind of ignition device - very vague and those reports are only coming out of MCSO.

DPS has only said the same and that it could have hurt someone by flash or explosion - well duh... so will a box with a string of black cats... and it still could have been a setup by Joe and MCSO to garner attention and sympathy

Until either DPS or FBI released specific information about this, this is all a BS publicity stunt IMHO

If by some chance it was a real threat......all i am reminded of is the story of "The boy who cried wolf". every time there is something going on that Joe needs to divert attention.....something dramatic always happens.  and even if it is a real attempt, Joe just has to put his own spin on it. it was skinheads that put out the threats, yet Joe says it is connected to the other deaths, but yet he still has the claim that its the mexican cartels......those are 2 entirely different  groups that are quite the opposite, so i dont know how he thinks those 2 go together.

JohnQ.Public
JohnQ.Public

@yourproductsucks No, I'm interpreting the $$ amount referenced in the AZ Republic article as the legal costs incurred by the county in defending the civil lawsuit filed by Saville.  But you make a great point - if the criminal investigation was a sham from the get-go, the costs of the criminal investigation should clearly be added to the wasted costs borne by the taxpayers for the eniterty of the Saville fiasco.

yourproductsucks
yourproductsucks

@JohnQ.Public You are including the legal fees spent on the prosecution of Saville?  That hardly falls under the settlement umbrella.

Dubya

@gerry_c So, Gerry, are you suggesting that MCSO was actually sent to Flagstaff to TRAIN FPD and BATFE agents, instead of 'assisting'? That really does make sense, as the Geriatric Fool sent his employees to Honduras for the same task. It may also be that the original birth certificate from Kenya was contained in the box, being protected by inert explosives that may or may not have been the 'real' thing. Seriously, I think the package was just another limp media ploy. I will guess there was probably an anonymous call made to the post office to watch for any 'suspicious' packages being mailed to the Wells Fargo building in Phoenix.

Since OSB never received the package he can't hardly call himself a victim, now can he? Not that he apparently knows what a victim might actually be.

yourproductsucks
yourproductsucks

@Tommy_Collins Mesa PD has a bomb squad.  If a package's destination was aimed at a target in Mesa, I assure you MPD would be involved.

Imagine if the target was Chief Garcia of PPD.  It would be expected that PPD detectives work hand in hand with the investigation knowing there is a real possibility of secondary packages.

Again, your hatred for the target clouds your judgement.

gerry_c
gerry_c

@Tommy_Collins   I suppose Tommy that it takes a total of three deputies to develop angles for the upcoming press releases and press conferences.  As Zullo taught us, the press conference is one of the most valuable investigative tools in the toolkit.  This may revolutionize the tactics of Federal Law Enforcement as they watch and observe MCSO's professionals.

I am not sure is if the address on the package was forged with Photoshop.  There could be some underlying Cold Case Crimes here that have already been destroyed for investigation by the Cold Case Posse since the package was apparently destroyed.   Preservation of this evidence is another reason that it will take so many deputies.

You are right, plus it's not MCSO's jurisdiction in any way, legally they cannot be involved.

If it was sent through the mail, that's Federal jurisdiction, not state or local.

So you are right, FBI and ATF would be the responsible agencies. While they would request help, if needed, from the local Law Enforcement and for time and safety issues, that means that local PD bomb squad would have disarmed and then secured for FBI and ATF.

All MCSO would be able to do is watch - since when does it take 3 deputies for that?
