Joe Arpaio's Alleged DUI-Deputies: Lieutenant Aaron Brown and Detective Stephen Palmer

MCSO Lt. Aaron Brown after his arrest by the Tempe PD in November for DUI

My general rule when it comes to drinking is that I do mine at home. Life is so much simpler that way.

It's a bit of wisdom two of Sheriff Joe Arpaio's boys in beige might profit from: MCSO Lieutenant Aaron Brown and sex crimes detective Stephen Palmer, both of whom are charged with driving while impaired in separate incidents that occurred this past fall.

Brown, 37, is accused of driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or above, and Palmer, 33, is charged with extreme DUI, driving with a blood alcohol content of .20 or above.

As far as I can tell, each man is still working for the MCSO, and their cases are pending in city courts: Palmer's in Phoenix, Brown's in Tempe.

Read Lieutenant Aaron Brown's arrest report.

I say, "as far as I can tell," because the MCSO refuses to answer questions about either man, including whether or not they have been disciplined. I have requested each deputy's personnel file from the sheriff's office, to see if there is a record of any discipline.

Read Special Victims Unit detective Stephen Palmer's arrest report.
(NB: A charge of driving with a blood alcohol content of .20 or above was added after this report was filed.)

Brown's November arrest occurred after an unusual incident at Tempe's Tailgate Sports Bar, where his fiancee was suspected of setting a garbage can on fire inside the establishment.

Tempe police officer J. Werhnyak responded to the call, spotted a white GMC truck leaving the property and followed. When Brown, who was driving, allegedly failed to halt at a stop sign, Werhnyak pulled the truck over.

According to Werhnyak's report of the incident, Brown's fiancee Joy Presley and a man named Masamichi Wakimoto were in the vehicle with him. Brown threw his keys to Presley, who then ran into Brown's house behind a locked security gate.

As the report tells it, Brown, who was armed, was none too happy with being pulled over.

"The male driver had a thousand mile stare and looked very angry," writes Werhnyak. "He advanced toward me and I ordered him to stop but he continued. After the second warning, I drew my Taser. I pointed it at his center of mass and he stopped.

"I told both males to sit down and the Asian male complied. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Aaron Brown did not. Instead he advised he was a Lieutenant with "County," and stated he knows how these things go. I ordered him to the ground again just as Officer Couillard approached and yelled for him to sit down."

Arpaio is "Below the Law".

Arpaio's Deputies know they can do any thing they want, Wrongfull in Custody Killings, Lie under Oath, Steal, even in a Court Room, DUI is very minor for the Corruption Riddled  M.C.S.O.

As usual, The OLD FART is gonna say:"NOTHING TO SEE HERE, NOTHING HAPPENED", and then promote the drunkards while Jan Gin Brewsky gives them the thumbs up and Jaffy performs his cheerleader moves while wearing his pink tutu and The JOKE wears his PINK G-STRING. LOL.That would be a good press conference.

Getting a DUI is one thing; getting a DUI while being a cop is another. Their jobs are to uphold and enforce the laws, not to break them. It takes a high level of hypocrisy to do the same exact thing that you arrest others for.  I really do wonder how many people Brown and Palmer have locked up for DUI....

Just more evidence that the Flaccid Failure employs criminals and lawless thugs. He breeds corruption from the top on down. No integrity, no accountability, no moral standards. Just pure lawlessness at the MCSO.

lol doesnt surprise me at all. I once met up with a friend in tempe, who had a few of his MCSO buddies with him. No big deal, cool guys and all. But i was a little shocked when i started following them to another bar and noticed the driver, a Detective with MCSO, was drinking beers and just tossing them into the back of his truck while driving..as if it was no big deal. How many times have we read about a MCSO employee driving drunk or dangerously, and then the case just vanishes? These guys think they are immune to the law because they work for joe..their statements pretty much confirm this.

"Because Palmer refused the breath test, the cops drew blood."

Doesn't this mean an AUTOMATIC 1 year suspension of his driver's license?  It does for other people!

I wonder if Jaffy is riding him around on the back of his Schwinn, with Jaffy making siren sounds if in a high speed (5mph or more) chase!

Great investigative work. Keep the updates flowing. In a couple of weeks the AZ Republic will have something on this. As an aside, there were MANY incidents of law enforcement abuse in Katrina areas. People would have been better off with out the cops.

Just more everyday criminals that work for Arpaio that can do no wrong according to Arpaio.

@JoeArpaioFan

What evidence do you have that this was politically motivated?

Seems to me both Phoenix and Tempe PD made legit busts on the MCSO Gestapo fools.

@JoeArpaioFan @PissOnArpaio They're sayin' you work at Burger King?

@JoeArpaioFan please tell me where in the article that it even alludes to them being republicans? if you are saying they have to be republicans because Joe is, then please explain how we have republican and democrats with a democratic president? is Joe discriminating and only hiring republicans?

@JoeArpaioFan @PissOnArpaio lol take a xanax, and re read your comment..you are saying "but its okay if a dem does it?" Robert, let me help you out here. You are contradicting yourself. You are trying to excuse the criminal behavior of 2 MCSO employees by trying to point the finger at something that doesnt even exist. No one is talking about letting Dems walk on DUI. Having lost 4 people close to me because of DUI's, i certainly would NOT excuse it no matter who it is. And if you support the law as you say you do, you wouldnt either. But you dont support the law, you support joe..and there is a very distinct difference.

@JoeArpaioFan @danzigsdaddy lol unlike these guys, there is no direct evidence Holder was involved. And dont get me started on Issa's sham hearing either, that was a joke. But what gives fan boi? I thought you were all about supporting the law? Is it different because they are MCSO employees?? lol tisk tisk....

@JoeArpaioFan  you are the one that says selective law enforcement is necessary. if Joe and his officers are to be exempt from the repercussions of their actions, so should Holder and his agency. this is why myself and others are against the selective enforcement that you say is necessary. unlike you, i firmly believe that even though Joe and Holder are not personally or physically responsible for their agencies mistakes, they are the ones who should have to answer for them.

danzigsdaddy
danzigsdaddy topcommenter

@JoeArpaioFan   there you go again, i have always felt Holder and his department should have to answer for it. you on the other hand believe that all officials should be let off the hook as long as they pull the Joe Arpaio defense of  "I do not recall". how do we know if Holder recalls it? if he says he doesnt......according to you we have to let him go. you also believe that if he says he cant find one single person or group responsible....nobody should have to answer for it (that worked for MCSO).  if Holders department's actions caused the loss of life and allowed for crimes to be committed..... how is that different than MCSO's actions causing the loss of life and allowing for crimes to be committed?  in both cases it was the actions of a few that are casting bad views on the rest of their departments. if those departments dont have to punish the ones who are doing these things....why would you expect the other agencies to do anything? if we get Holder out of there, are you going to make sure Arpaio is removed too? both of them should be answering for their agencies actions and are ultimately responsible for their agencies. if you are going to pretend that nothing has gone wrong inside the MCSO infrastructure....pretend Holders group is innocent too. as long as we use you blind faith, we can say both Holder and Arpaio are just doing their jobs. and to paraphrase Arpaio "Sometimes thats the cost of doing business". if Arpaio has as many problems as he does because his agency is so big, we should be more understanding for Holder.......his agency is WAY, WAY bigger.
