Joe Arpaio Recall? Randy Parraz Says No Involvement in Effort Claimed by Petition Partners (w/Updates)

picresized_th_1359498703_PP.JPG
They're off a year on the date, unless this is a bad joke...

I'm waiting for a call back from Andrew Chavez, proprietor of Petition Partners, about a rather odd message on his company's Twitter account, announcing that a recall of Sheriff Joe Arpaio is to commence this Thursday, and claiming that $1.3 million has been committed to the project.

I say it's rather odd, because Randy Parraz, President of Citizens for a Better Arizona, the group responsible for the successful 2011 recall of ex-state Senate President Russell Pearce and the group considered most likely to recall Joe (up until now), seemed genuinely surprised when I phoned him about the Tweet.

"We have not filed anything [regarding a recall of Arpaio] and we have no relationship with Petition Partners," Parraz told me.

Dilution of each others' efforts is of course a concern and a threat to both of these efforts.

As these efforts pick up steam, I am expecting the Sheriff to announce a brand new slew of death threats against the life of the Sheriff.  There seems to be a strong correlation between Sheriff crises and Sheriff death threats.

Randy and Mr. Chavez should join forces.  Together they may be far more successful that mounting separate efforts.

Finally its about time someone wastes no time, starting a recall effort. Now let the legal battle begin. Let them march forward to remove the Flaccid Failure from power, once and for all. They need to put an end to all this inane insanity and imbecility of that 80 year old octogenarian tyrant.

Thanks, Stephen.  As you noted, Chavez did acknowledge to me that he has no involvement in the possible effort.  As I noted in the post you linked to, and the subsequent one (bit.ly/AZp440), I spoke with two sources who indicated that the effort is likely and is likely to start this week.  I also noted/linked the interesting video that PDA posted on YouTube at almost the same moment that you posted this, with Parraz teasing the recall effort pretty strongly to a group in D.C. on the 19th.

As we all know, everyone in politics has their reasons for leaking or not leaking - often valid and noble ones.  I'm betting that you know both why Chavez tweeted what he did, and why Parraz was non-committal.

@ArizonasPolitics.com  just putting this out there, but, getting a Parraz endorsement would clear any doubts people have, getting a Dee-Dee Blase endorsement would compound any doubts people have

@danzigsdaddy @ArizonasPolitics.comNot sure what you mean.  If what you mean by "endorsement" is who is going to be leading any recall effort, then yeah, you're absolutely right.  Based on scoreboard.

Just to be clear, I have no involvement with any party.  Once Petition Partners tweeted what at first glance appears to be an announcement that PP was going to be involved in a recall effort, I followed up as a reporter.  I reported that PP was NOT going to be involved, but found his tweet worthy of following up.  I naturally began following up with CBA folks and others involved with the Pearce recall and anti-Arpaio actions.  I found several signs pointing to a recall effort starting this week, and that Parraz has been hinting that. (video at bit.ly/AZp440 ).  I did not follow up with Blase.

@danzigsdaddy Thanks!  (FYI, just watched that Parraz video again and left a message for him - those were pretty strong hints he laid down!  bit.ly/AZp440

@ArizonasPolitics.com oh.... in that case you arent misunderstanding, i am.  i'm getting this on my phone, so some info is missing (cheap phone). with a CBA push, you bet i'm on-board

@danzigsdaddy OK, now I'm clear.  You are misunderstanding, danzigsdaddy, I am JUST a reporter! I am not soliciting support; I was calling people as a reporter to see whether I could get confirmations that a recall effort was about to start.  My reporting leads me to believe that it IS going to be a CBA effort - watch that Parraz video I embedded and you'll likely agree.  Thanks!

@ArizonasPolitics.com  its not meant as an insult, and may come off to you as sounding paranoid, but, many people hear of a move like this and dont see someone like Randy Parraz spear heading or coming out and saying he is behind it 100%%%% from get go makes some people wonder if it is a Joe ploy (we just start thinking of James Saville). Joe has proven that such moves are NOT below him and IS fully capable of pulling stunts. I wont lie, i wonder about it too sometimes. if you read all the comments below, i think you will find some of the Joe innuendos to be jokes, but some of them are real. all i am suggesting, is that if Randy Parraz were to come out and say something to the effect of  him not being in charge of it, but being on-board with everything and wanting to help......the people you are trying to reach would come around a whole lot faster and your movement would pick up speed a lot quicker (i want to believe and support it, i just want to hear a few more established names against Arpaio on it. one suggestion would be to get Atty. Joel Robbins name involved, and people would flock to your cause). by the way, i admire the move, but am just expressing some doubts that some people would have. aside from Randy's name, if i saw Joel Robbins nodding his head your way....I'd come running your way and come running with others

This an Arpaio BS scam. Plain and simple.

What does it matter how much was raised in an effort to unseat Arpaio from his Shawshank Prison gig? He's a bigoted crooked bastard who's looking to be sheriff forever and die in office to martyr himself so he pours on the fear factor before the elections to stir up support from his voter base.

Take care and hang in there, everyone.

Warren if Arizona is lucky, perhaps Arpaio will soon be "Recalled" to a Warmer location than even Phoenix?

I say wait until Joe seriously steps on his crank. Who knows what that might be? The birther issue or some new and bizarre revelation where he's screwed up an investigation involving multiple victims... like the sex crimes debacle in El Mirage. Give him time.

This must be Jaffy doings...anything to keep Jose Arpayaso relevant. And who can forget when the Old Fool was carrying the envelope with "Dangerous powder" from his pigsty house to his fart smelling office, probably it was the meth  that he was going to hook jaffy with, and when ava found it in his coat and asked him about, and the old fool could not "recall", that's when he concocted all the bullshit that he said about the envelope.

The least the recall folks could do is realize that it is now 2013 and 1/31/12 is in the distant past.

@marcy See a post a made, as  I'm really starting to think this might be a media stunt by the Arpaio Camp.  They can later say how he "fought off" a recall.

@WhoKnows i was thinking along the same lines. it may sound like a paranoid view, but with him ..........you never know, remember the kid he set up us and claimed was going to bomb him? once you remember stuff like that, your idea no longer seems fantastic but more realistic

WhoKnows

@danzigsdaddy James Saville.  The MCSO gave him a ride and paid for the "parts", then took him to make the bomb, but did it themselves as he didn't understand what to do.  MCSO then took him to a restaurant where Joe was (and ABC15 was filming outside outside) and told him how to put in under Joke's car.  We paid MILLIONS in that lawsuit.

My favorite however, was when Joke blew up his neighbors lawn ornament, and claimed it had been a "death threat"...

Is this a Arpaio media stunt (the 10,000th), so Joke can say "those evil open border folks tried to recall me and FAILED.   Ava, I need some beanie weenies!"

Joke knows that if the immigration problems start getting resolved at the federal level, his little dog and pony show with be sent to Mongolia.

@WhoKnows I believe it's all being perpetrated by the MCSO shurf. The next step will be for him to send out one of his lovely fund raising letters asking donors for money to help fight the move to unseat him because he's, "Only doing my job to the rule of law, including investigating the President of the United States, and them liberals don't like it".

It's simply a fund raising effort to restore his mega million dollar campaign coffers.

Let us not forget that Russ Pearce's own son started an Arpaio recall a few years back.

@WhoKnows it is a catchy title though, and they would probably increase the reader base (because if JAF is any indication of Joe fans....they cant read, they just look at the "purdy pickshurs")
