Joe Arpaio Pimps Stooge Mike Stauffer and Lies About Paul Penzone

arpaioMailer.jpg
Patton Oswalt, um, I mean Mike Stauffer (top right) gets a little love from Uncle Joe in this recent campaign mailer

How often do you see a politician pimping the website of his or her opponent?

Well, if all candidates had a diversionary third-party in their race, intended to drain votes from their main competitor, stooge-pimping of the kind seen in the mailer above from Sheriff Joe Arpaio's camp would be a lot more common.

The stooge in question is Moe-wannabe Mike Stauffer, a guy who is either delusional or on the payroll or both. This not so-subtle mailer helps out Stauffer by tearing down Democratic candidate Paul Penzone and directing recipients to a video on Stauffer's website where he declares he'd do away with Tent City.

Apparently, this marshmallow-mouth would convert it into a farm of some kind for county inmates to work. You know, because the MCSO's chain-gang has been such a hit.

So the SHURF is once again using dirty tactics to smear his opponent? Why am I not surprised?

I just looked closely at the picture of Paul Penzone and he kinda reminds of the actor who played Elliot Stabler on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Imagine if MCSO had a Special Victims Unit that functioned like the one on Law & Order: SVU..

this is a little off topic, but is something Arpaio, Brewer and all of Arizona are missing an opportunity on. (YPS, I really want feedback from you on this, as well as anybody currently in law enforcement or with past law enforcement experience) what Stauffer is proposing is not a original idea, nor is it his idea entirely. it is something used by DOC right now. DOC "farms-out" inmate labor. they have "drivers-helpers", "fire-crew" and many other groups that leave prison daily, unsupervised except for a civilian (sometimes a DOC guard, depending on the job) to oversee the work. with a situation like hurricane Sandy or even some of the California fires, they should send inmates from DOC and county jail to help in the relief efforts. it is labor that would be paid under $1 an hour, that would be doing something beneficial, it would help the people who need the relief effort, and also help our states image. instead of trying to capitalize of the image of abusing the incarcerated, Joe and Jan  could be showing Arizona's humanitarian side, and also using an untapped labor source. there are entire prison yards full of minimum security inmates that would be ideal candidates for programs like this. this  is a program that would greatly benefit all involved. it would also be teaching people skills that could greatly aide in getting inmates skills that would help them stay on path to a better life upon their release.

This is an obvious attempt to elevate Stauffer's status among anti-Arpaio people.  Every vote for Stauffer is a vote for Arpaio.  Stauffer is an idiot.  At least Olivia Cortes knew what she was doing.

I was truly embarrassed for Stauffer when he explained his entire plans for Tent City back in February to me. He wants to farm out all inmates to private businesses and it's as close to slavery as I've heard anyone openly discuss. Then of course, his Tent City Garden of Eden farming plan to give inmates axes and ho's while cutting staff. Smart move? Probably not.

I was trying to be nice to the clown at the time but it is truly sad.  I actually thought he was just chatting so I let it go as a fools running of the mouth.

Penzone has told the truth about the reality of Tent City-we are stuck with it for a while. Eventually, it could be closed but to make silly promises isn't Penzones style.  It will take responsible leadership and careful planning.

Good idea but there are a few problems with it.

Security does become an issue to a lot of people, whether the concern is real or imagined it has to be taken into consideration. Because of that, while many states will accept such help from another state, they put massive restriction on it as to who, what, when and where and insist on full security instead of light security.

They also do this for liability reasons, since if they allowed it and 1 got loose and killed someone in that state, you now have a crime committed in 1 state, by a felon who was in the custody of another state - get's really messy then with claims of who was responsible, who should have been responsible, state soveriengty, etc....

Also the chaos of a disaster scene makes it that much harder to reasonably handle security, while making it that much easier to escape.

Some states allow it in fire fighting situations, forest fires out in the middle of nowhere so that the risk is minimized but get very very leary of it in residential areas.

Then there is the transportation of them and the security during transport.

There are a few other issues as well, prisoner rights (safety wise) being one of them. Also the legality of it has been raised as to the 'slave' labor aspect.

If they sign up for the work that is fine, but you cannot make them do it.

All in all, while a great idea it just becomes a major pain in the ass, more so than it's worth, which is why this kind of thing is done mainly in state where most of these concerns do not exist.

Have you noticed YPS has been conspicuously absent of late.  My theory is that YPS was the Social Media Director of campaign consulting and PR firm Rose+Moser+Allyn (not a true sheriff's office employee as he claimed).  Since R+M+A claim Arpaio as a client and both R+M+A and Summit Consulting claim a close working relationship with each each other, it only makes sense.  I started referring to him as such last week and all of a sudden he disappeared.  hhhhmmmm.......

I fixed it already but it still sucks that I wasn't paying closer attention.  My goal was to be as fair as possible to both of you so I wanted both videos to say about the same thing.  But the link was just plain sloppy.  We are all lucky we've got 2 great candidates.  I think people need to get to know both of you better.  I think a debate in April would be great."

@yourproductsucks i dont mean it as a means of exploitation, rather more of a means of help. here is my reasoning. prison has almost  nothing to do with reform. it is about punishmenut. there are no programs in effect for rehabilitation or even re-entry into society. recidivism in Arizona is over 80-85%. there are many people in prison who would like to turn their lives around or even help for that matter, but there really are no programs or opportunities for it. you would be amazed how many people would volunteer for an opportunity to help, or to get a chance to turn their lives around with something like this. and as for security issues...they are there anyways. i figure if joe is allowed to use inmates for his own political gain (I.E.  the chain gang), but DOC actually has people who leave the prison daily with minimal supervision (I.E. fire-crew, drivers helpers, ADOT, maintinance, farm, irrigation, and others) why not use something like this as a tool for reform and or second chances, or even disaster relief (as the fire crew does). i can assure you the people who would volunteer would not view it as a means of exploitation but as a way to help.  this is just a thought i had and wanted to see if anybody else thought if it was a good or bad idea. i do appreciate the input though

@yourproductsucks  Just curious YPS:  what do you think Obama and the administration should have called the attacks on Benghazi?

It was a terror attack. The president and the administration presumed that and confirmed it.

As for Romney, he flip-flops on the issues so much that sometimes he believes his own mush.

Romney raised taxes on all Bay State residents by signing RomneyCare (he claimed he CUT taxes 19 times).

Romney hired illegal immigrants to provide landscaping services to his $12M Belmont, MA estate (he has said he will veto the DREAM Act if passed).

And Romney knows so much about job creation that when the Big Dig Tunnel went up in Boston it collapsed upon completion and ran gargantuan deficits.

Per the CIA's own reports both that night and after, as well as actual on the ground reports, it was not known if it was a demonstration, a demonstration that morphed into a coordinated attack, a coordinated attack only or a coordinated attack that then morphed into a demonstration.

The initial comments regarding a demonstration were put out by local staffers who were taking into account the demonstrations already seen elsewhere that WERE specifically related to that stupid video, therefore from their perspective that was a reasonable assumption that turned out to be incorrect.

I ignore nothing. Obama and Co (which is not the staffers on the ground that made the first statements) did not say it was specifically caused by the video or by terrorism, they allowed for both possibilities in the absence of accurate information that simply was not available at the time. That seems pretty smart to me, after all, as I said we know quite well what knee-jerk reactions get us thanks to GWB.

The only one spinning here is you

And if you so dislike being lied to, can I assume you were just as vocal when Bush and co. LIED blatantly about Iraq having WMD's? Which was after all the justification for going into Iraq, at least that was the justification until they could not find what they knew did not exist and they changed their story?

Hmmm.... Sounds like Romney (flip-flop). It must be a republican thing.

You bring up an excellent point that needs to be clearly understood by everyone (you I suspect already know this)

Terror attacks WILL happen. It is inevitable and to be very blunt, impossible to prevent all of them. There is no security system in the world that is 100% foolproof.

It's like computer security. You put up a wall, they look for a crack or area that cannot be protected with a wall simply because access is needed, thus security is compromised - that is not to say there is no security, it's just not as good as a wall since you need access.

The world and our defense is the same way, unless we are going to start garrisoning 1 entire army division in each consulate and embassy, which is not only impractical but would not be allowed in foreign countries just like we would not allow other countries to do that for their consulates/embassies here.

All you can do is the best possible based on the information available prior to the attack actually happening, within the constraints placed on you for budgets and the like by the congress that is responsible for that.

Everyone needs to quit being so fast to jump on the Pres about this until we have ALL the details into what happened.

It would have been reckless of the President to go on TV and give reasons for the attack prior to knowing the facts. Let's face it, snap decisions and acting without accurate information is what got us into 2 illegal wars and we don't need to do that again.

We are going to be attacked again, it's just a matter of time and time is on the side of the attacker who has all the time in the world to pick and choose their target based on their capabilities and the targets capabilities.

We do not have that luxury of time and due to the size and scope of the US presence around the world, the terrorists know us a lot better than we know them, which gives them a huge advantage in how they operate and strike. Advantages we have no counter for and will never have a counter for since it will always be that way.

To be blunt, the fact we had not been attacked before 9/1/12 is a testament to how good our security is and was, but it's foolhardy to think that any security is going to stop everything.

MaskedMagician1967
MaskedMagician1967

@yourproductsucks Could security have been heightened in Benghazi? Absolutely.

Could the president have reacted differently than he did, including, as you claim, ignoring and then lying about Benghazi? Absolutely.

We have no way of knowing when terror will strike. All we can do is prepare for an attack.

I'm not sure that, even with heightened security, the Benghazi attack would not have happened. Terror can strike anywhere in the world.

I brought up the whole episode in NJ because it was refreshing to see politics put aside. Governor Christie has openly expressed disdain for Obama.

While I seriously doubt you actually want to hear anything I have to say in regards to 9/11 and Bush, I do believe you simply want me to tell you so that you can pull it apart, dissemble and divert all so you can have an argument with someone you do not like.

Whatever, I will indulge you in my opinions but could care less about anything you post in reply and will not get into another pissing match with someone doesn't even know what the definition of a fact is IMHO.

BTW - I have already researched all of these to my satisfaction and you can now do the same. I will not do your research for you.

Bush had intel handed to him from day 1 he got into office that Bin Laden was planning an attack on us soil and that a large number of the attackers ere already in the country. He disregarded this intel and stated to his intel advisors he was not interested in that intel but only wanted specific intel about Al Qaeda in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It was bad enough several of the top CIA people working on those reports and others, debated quitting and transferring elsewhere, since Bush was not reading what they were sending him and they did not want the blame placed on them when it all went south, as they knew it would.

Across the country we had terrorists taking flight lessons with no interest in learning how to land the planes. This set off flags that were reported to local field offices and farther up the chain, only to be stopped dead by the policies that Bush put into place, restricting information from one intel organization from being passed to the other intel organizations without a review from a senior White House official.

We had other countries giving us their intel that said Bin Laden was going to attack us, with a lot of details and Bush ignored it when it got to his desk, again stating he was not interested in that intel, only intel about Al Qaeda in the regions of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Now from the day Bush took office to the day of the attacks, Bush received a minimum of 8 security meetings, if they are only done once a month. But the number is actually much higher since he started receiving DAILY security briefs BEFORE he took office and got many many additional briefings where this intel was brought up, in addition to the normal security briefs he received daily and had meetings about at least monthly if not weekly.

Bush put the policies in place that restricted information flow and ignored intel he did not personally find interesting or fitting with his agenda.

 @danzigsdaddy  No problem.

Now, let's get back to the business of taking the MCSO shurf outta the Wells Fargo building in Phoenix and installing Paul Penzone.

@Flyer9753  Couple that with JAF's slanderous and libelous "website" targeting Penzone I don't trust that fool as far as I can throw him.

Still searching and have a question into that radio station, that syndicates out of New York so it's hard to get anyone direct right now but what I did find was that FEMA is not refusing to help, but is having difficulty helping because of the flooding and destruction, they can't get to all places so they had to wait in _some_ instances for the national guard with their vehicles that can get through to get on-sight.

A few residents who did not realize this did make some statements to that effect since from their perspective and without accurate info, it looked like FEMA had stopped helping them, which is false, FEMA was simply waiting for the proper vehicles rather than endanger first responders more than they already are.

Yeah, the people who are doing this should be MADE to go front and center in the cleanup IMHO as repayment to the people and country for their despicable acts.

Not seeing or hearing any mention of it.

I am seeing a lot of stuff about the work FEMA is doing, providing transportation services in NJ for instance and pledging funds for repair work.

I know FEMA did deliver a bunch of additional pumps to help as well as dozers and such to get all the sand from the dunes cleaned up so people can get through. Those arrived on scene late last night.

I'll keep looking to see what I can find but off the cuff I would say that was a radio prank. TBH on a phone in to a radio station who really knows where the caller is coming from and history has shown that the republicants love to call this kind of crap in to stir the waters (no pun intended)

Did you hear about the republicant who was tweeting false updates and crap like that during the storm and immediately after?

I suspect these radio show call ins are more of the same but I will keep looking to see if I can confirm it.

@Flyer9753  I remember Bush just sitting stone-faced in that Florida classroom when he was told what was happening and what had happened.

As for Katrina, that was probably one of the biggest fuck-ups in the Bush Administration.

Bush wasn't exactly a popular Republican. This is why.

I remember EXACTLY how UN-PRESIDENTIAL Bush was after 9/11 AND Katrina

9/11 was Bush and Bush's administrations fault in many many respects.

Katrina was a cluster fuck, primarily thanks to Bush appointees and Bush himself sticking his uneducated stupid nose where it did not belong, trying to micro-manage something that he knew nothing about

Your lies and defending of these loons is actually getting worse than JAF, which is impressive but not in a good way

@yourproductsucks  Coupled with ineptitude at FEMA under the leadership of Bush political appointee Michael Brown whose prior experience was as a partner in a law firm and Judges and Stewards Commissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association.  Brown was completely inept as a leader of a disaster relief organization, had not experience in the field and was way out of his depth as a manager.  The travesty was the hurricane.  The fiasco was the Bush administration's response to it.

@truthseekeraz  You seem to forget how presidential Bush was after 9-11...

Katrina was a travesty due to the inepitude in leadership within the Great State of Louisiana and the City of New Orleans.
