Boy how far you have fallen. Your blogs in the past 30 days reads like a 3 year old temper tantrum. How about getting your head out of your ass Lemons and start talking about why your guy is the better candidate, cuz the personnel file you posted sure isn't doing Penzone any favors. Good police officers go their whole careers without getting suspended and having their gun taken away from them. You need to start telling us why this guy is better than the independent, otherwise he's just another Arpaio wannabe. Dems should have thought about that before hand picking him. At this point all you're doing is trying to discredit the other candidate instead of telling us why your guy is better.

Scottsdale police department known for shooting first, asking later is certainly not where we would want the next Maricopa County Sheriff to come from. They've flown under the radar for too many years. Connected at the hip with the MCAO / Gov., powerful lawyers and judges who live in their area and push all the buttons. Drugs take money. Scottsdale = baucoup S$$'s for drugs. More going on there than any urban ghetto.

After meeting Paul Penzone and hearing others speak about him, we will vote for Penzone. There is no doubt its time for Arpaio to be gone! Vote for Penzone!

I'm kind of confused here. Where is the threat? Back in the day when I lived in a rough neighborhood, if you were told to not come back it was not a threat per se, it was actually a promise of violence.

Being hated and all would really not lead to any kind of a threat at all, it's possibly a statement of fact, but it's not really a threat.. The police would ignore this if you called that in. I can see it now...

9-1-1 what's you emergency?

I got a letter with death threats.

Ok we will send an officer to check things out.

(a few minutes later)

the police show up. They take a look at the letter.

"Police officer to dispatcher. This isn't a threat.

Back at the station, with a copy of the letter in hand for their report..

all the cops gather and have a laugh fest for 15 minutes...

I've realized a few laughs from some of the comments on this story. So, I thought maybe I had glossed over some important part of the story and didn't realize it. I read it once again, for probably the fourth time.

I still don't get it. Rhetorically speaking, why would either Stauffer or Kenyon really care what Mr. Fleenor had to say in his email asking Stauffer to step aside?

Mr. Fleenor, an apparent supporter of Paul Penzone (as am I) simply stated his opinion, including that Stauffer might be hated and villifiied after the election.

Again, I don't see the threat, implied or otherwise.

This can't speak well for someone who thinks he might want to be sheriff, honestly.

I realize that Penzone now may have the best political shot at beating Arpaio. But trying to convince Stauffer to quit the race by telling him and his campaign manager that they will be the most villified people in Maricopa county is extraordinarily stupid. That will also make them hunker down more.

Justy want to also point out that the New Times mentioned Stauffer positively in about 20+ articles before ever mentioning Penzone and in about 30+ articles before suggesting that Stauffer should consider stepping aside in favor of Penzone. The New Times had a hand in building up the Stauffer campaign and is now cynically dumping him now that Penzone might have a remote chance of beating Arpaio.

Way to stay classy...

@VoxNoxBox Like all things in life, things change in political races. Once we all figured out that Stauffer was not actually gaining ANY ground whatsoever - no funding, no volunteers, no social media following, no big name endorsements - we decided to back Paul Penzone who is, like Stauffer, a solid police officer. The difference? Penzone is running a real campaign and has a real shot at beating Arpaio in November.

Ever read the story about how Stauffer had a woman and three kids run off the road instead of letting MCSO take over a pursuit? For which he is still being reprimanded by SPD? Public records requests are fun.

@TommyCollins SPD thought it was too dangerous, and it was near Carefree. The officers on the road thought it better to let MSCO track the driver down rather than keep the pursuit going. Stauffer re-initiated it over the radio and ordered a fire truck and police cars to block the road. For this, he was formally reprimanded because it was deemed too dangerous a response. The records show that it was after MCSO was named as the one taking over that Stauffer made the call.

I have an idea.... how about we leave the decision to replace Arpaio with the VOTERS of Maricopa county? I was on Mike Stauffer's page last night. Some of my progressive, liberal friends are WAY out of line with what they post on that page. If you don't like Stauffer or don't intend supporting him then LEAVE HIM ALONE. Stop harassing him and his campaign manager. Stop begging him to drop out of the race. It smacks of desperation! Steer your energy into getting Paul Penzone elected.

@Growup2012 We are the voters of Maricopa County. We want Aropaio gone and don't need some poor old fool splitting the vote because of his middle age crisis. Stauffer knows he cant win. Any fool can figure that out. He can help his pal Joe Arpaio win though.

It's perfectly reasonable and proper to discuss Stauffer and in light of his latest crazy acts it is reasonable to wonder if he's got a screw loose.

I do however think he is entitled to run for Sheriff of MC if he so wishes WITHOUT being harassed by the opposition on a daily basis. Being entitled and being reasonable are two entirely different things.

Getting Penzone elected means removing a fringe vote splitting candidate from the ballot.

Although I really wish Stauffer would step out of the race, spending energy on that is most likely pointless - he will likely stay in the race out of pride and stubbornness. Again, all of us who want Arpaio out of office are on the same side - let's move forward as a united front. DEFEAT ARPAIO!

@Naughty_Lisa I like the idea, but given that stauffer won't listen to all the community leaders from all parties who have long battled arpaio, i doubt he would listen to it :(
