In a major political gaffe that's sure to resonate across the nation, the National Rifle Association's political action committee has endorsed recalled, disgraced ex-state Senate President Russell Pearce, giving him an "A+" rating, despite his outrageous blame-the-victim comments following the July 20, massacre in an Aurora, Colorado movie theater.

The endorsement is listed on the website for the NRA's Political Victory Fund, the powerful pro-gun lobby's PAC, and includes a link to Pearce's campaign site. Pearce is listed along with several other legislative hopefuls and incumbents who have received ratings and endorsements from the group.

The NRA's seal of approval

Pearce is a longtime gun-rights advocate, who has backed legislation allowing owners to carry guns concealed without a permit, and letting pistol-packers legally have their guns with them in bars that do not display signs indicating firearms are verboten.

But Pearce drew near-universal ire for Facebook comments that came less than 24 hours after gunman James Holmes, wearing body armor and armed with an AR-15 rifle and other weapons, walked into a midnight showing of Dark Knight Rises, released smoke bombs and opened fire on the crowd.

The mass shooting left 58 injured and 12 dead, including a 6 year-old girl and the mother of two small children. Today, the Los Angeles Times reported that the mother of that 6 year-old, who was pregnant with another child, miscarried.

The only way Pearce could have affected the outcome of this tragedy, had he been there, would be if the stench of him shitting his pants would have been enough to penetrate the gas mask the shooter wore, thus blinding him.

Are you sure it was the National Rifle Association and not the Nation Rifle's Asociation?

Can someone explain the logic to me. Slick Willie Cardon get endorsements for being pro business v/s being a career politician. But Rusty gets the nob despite having lived his life on the state/county food trough over a successful businessman.

The NRA has endorsed disgraced, corrupt, narcissistic and mentally sick Pearce? Why am I not surprised? What Worsley needs to do now is use the NRA's endorsement of Pearce against Pearce. Worsley also needs to use Pearce's own words about the Colorado massacre against him. I may just create another Russ TV ad... Look for one coming soon...

You just don't get it, do you.  The NRA didn't endorse Pearch "despits" his comments - the endorsed him because of his comments.  He was the only one with the courage (in their mind) for saying what he said outloud, despite how despicable it was.

This is a great example of why I've never been an NRA member,in spite of their best efforts to get my money. Any organization that might actually support or endorse the likes of Mister Pearce is certainly not going to gain my business, in any form.

Justice Scalia has implied that surface to air handheld/shoulder missles may very well be protected by the second amendment.

I am sick and tired of all the NRA extremists saying in multiple forums, threads, and facebook that 'if only' the members of the theatre audience were armed that they could have taken Holmes out. The man was dressed, head to toe, in body armor. And preceeded his gun attack by throwing smoke bombs into the theatre.

Perhaps Russell Pearce has the expertise to have subdued this mad man. But the reality is, is that our soldiers have been taken down by much less than this Holmes had to work with.

No amount of guns or rocket launchers or death rays or Vulcan grips could have stopped this crazed individual.

And if I recall correctly there WERE armed citizens present when Gabby Giffords was gunned down. Most if not all of them said that if they had used their weapons they might have shot innocent people by mistake because it happened so fast. Faster than any of them were capable of properly responding in kind.

If anyone ever figures out what Pearce's real agenda is, please send me an email explaining it.

Lemon has an obvious agenda, mainly that Joke Hairpieo and Russell Pearce be made to dance naked together as if in the shower with Jerry Sandusky.

But, Pearce seems to live only to step on his own dick.  Much like the Shurf, Russell wants his muscle in his own mouth, and does not think of the consequences of his actions. He, like Joe and Steven, just love to see their name in print.  Who cares how stupid they sound?

One day in the very near future I see a Phoenix without Joe, Russell, or Steve Lemons.  That day will be the beginning of a new, and interesting time for us to enjoy all things Arizonan.  The sooner, the better!

You see, Pearce is the perfect fit for the public face of the military industrial complex (the "MIC").  The civilian arms industry is part and parcel of the military weapons industrial juggernaut.  The representatives of the MIC must treat the civilian members of congress and the civilian President with feigned respect.  However, they don't have to treat the civilian leaders of our cities and states as anything more than the MIC considers them - small insects to be crushed in their quest for profits for their shareholders.  That's why the public face of the MIC's civilian arms branch should be someone who reflects that contempt of the public and of the rights guaranteed them by the Constitution.  They want someone arrogant and who doesn't recognize, let alone apologize, for mistakes.  Pearce is the perfect fit.

Why?  Because they can and they want to cow the American people into not passing any gun laws which will keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of dangerous people - because dangerous people are the civilian arms branch of the MIC's biggest customers: Despots; dictators; drug cartels; human trafficking; private security firms which protect all these pigs like Blackwater did.

Disgusting....The NRA has become a group of crazy old crank reactionaries.

But, leave it to Pearce, he will find a way to spell NRA wrong....

The NRA endorsed Pearce because they are interested in demonizing anyone who might speak up against the military industrial complex's civilian arms sales branch of the arms industry.  They held a convention right after Columbine - to laugh in the face of the victims there.

Pearce gets the NRA endorsement because of and not dispute of his words.  He never apologized after Laughners murder spree and said something very similar.  I think he apologized to take the heat off the emails that he refuses to apologize for.

These extreme gun rights advocates never seem to realize that no one is trying to take away their right to own guns.  All we want to do is keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill and convicted felons.  If a person is neither of these, a gun control law addressing these issues would not apply to them.  I own guns, and I don't fear gun control laws addressing the issues I mentioned because I'm neither a convicted felon nor mentally ill.  I think that people like Pearce oppose commonsense approaches like these just because they can.  Everyone who has a gun should be a responsible owner.

 Pearce doesn't have a courageous bone in his body, which is why he spews his racist hateful neo-con extremist rhetoric ... now where in history have we witnessed someone like this ...?

 @GustaReza

 Exactly, and I'm always amazed at those who spout this "I would have taken him out" BS from the safety of their keyboards.

As a note on Pearce, however, remember this is the guy that was shot with his own gun back in his deputy sheriff days.  Yes, he faced three kids and a dog, but they were unarmed until they took his gun away from him.  No darkened theatre filled with smoke and panicked people.  No opponent wearing body armor from head to toe and armed with a semi-automatic weapon with a 100 round magazine.

And he has the nerve to criticize the people in that theatre for not being 'fiight 93 heroes' and implying they were cowards?  The POS is totally disgusting.

 @cugagcmu80

 Exactly,we also are gun owners and are not members of the NRA. Whenever we purchase a new firearm,there is a support/join the NRA propaganda pamphlet. This propaganda is quickly filed where it belongs,in the trash can......Not all firearms owners support the NRA or any of it's in- pocket polititians, I say screw the NRA and any polititian that is too timid or weak to stand up to them. If the NRA doesn't like the fact,that a firearms owner can do just fine without them, SO WHAT ! ......The NRA's extremist policies put law enforcement and society as a whole at more risk of the same type of attacks as the Colorado massacre............BTW Pearce,do actually think that having the NRA's endorsement is going to get you a victory ? You're a DESPERATE,RACIST FOOL !

 And if Pearce and/or CQ have a bit of sense between the two of them, they'd better be at the printer first thing tomorrow and have another strip printed up to cover up Pearce's "Arizona Teacher's (sic) Association" endorsement, which is covering up his previous spelling error on his campaign signs touting his "Golden Apple Award for EDUCTION (sic)"

justme

 @GreenHornet

 Wonder if they're going to throw some of their money behind their endorsement?  They're not doing themselves any favors endorsing Pearce, and Pearce has no chance of winning.

It was afterall, Pearce's now ex-buddy neo-nazi gun-toting extremist JT Ready that used his firearms to kill his girlfriend, her daughter, her daughter's boyfriend, and her daughter's little baby girl, and himself, of course.

 Good point.  I wasn't trying to suggest Pearce is courageous, I was trying to suggest that the NRA thought it was corageous despite how despicable it was.

bob_lablaw96

 @GreenHornet It is not breaking any story. Lemons begins each day with a search for words to describe Pearce and the Shurff in a bad light.  They do that on their own!

Why is that the only topic, other than loving the illegals, that Lemons finds time to write about?  He is a good writer, but there has to be more fodder for thought out there than two old  racists, and how badly illegals are treated once they reach our shores!

If you look to this rag, or Stephen Lemons, for breaking news, then you ar in need of a life!
