Russell Pearce's Rival Bob Worsley Scores Phoenix Chamber Endorsement

Things are not going well for disgraced, recalled former state Senate President Russell Pearce, the marble-mouthed Mesa mook who's attempting a comeback with a Legislative District 25 run for state Senate.

In spite of Pearce's half-hearted claims of a "huge win" in the U.S. Supreme Court's 5-3 decision on his baby, Senate Bill 1070, the reality is, he got spanked.

The Supremes strongly reaffirmed the federal government's authority over immigration, and Pearce practically acknowledged as much to the Arizona Capitol Times' Yellow Sheet, when he criticized Justice Anthony Kennedy, author of the 1070 decision.

"His comments were disturbing, because they showed a complete lack of understanding of the Constitution and the state's sovereignty," Pearce offered of the justice.

Yeah, what does Kennedy know? He's only been on the high court since 1988, after being nominated for the post by President Ronald Reagan, that notorious open-borders anarchist who signed the 1986 amnesty.

Then today comes a twofer. First, there's the formation of an independent expenditure committee targeting Pearce called Moving Mesa Forward. The IE's chaired by Chad Snow, co-founder of Citizens for a Better Arizona, the group that made the recall a reality last year and helped turn out the vote against Pearce.

So keep lookin' over your shoulder, Russ, Snow's comin' for ya.

Second, there's the news that the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Pearce's rival in the LD 25 GOP primary, local captain of industry and jobs-creator Bob Worsley.

The SkyMall founder can add the Phoenix Chamber's nod to his ever-growing endorsement pile, which includes heavyweights such as the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, Mesa Mayor Scott Smith and every other member of the Mesa City Council.

Who are Pearce's endorsers? I mean, other than the usual suspects, state legislators like John Kavanaugh, Andy Biggs, and assorted other wingnuts?

The Mesa Republican and recalled Senate president amended his report this week to remove an eye-popping $85,016 contribution from the Arizona Optometric Association's political-action committee. The amount was remarkable not only because PACs are limited to $424 in yearly contributions, but because if you removed the dollar sign and the comma, the figure is identical to the PAC's ZIP code. Annette Hanian, the Optometric PAC's treasurer, gasped when asked about the $85,000 contribution. "No! Not even close!" she said. Her records showed the group gave Pearce a $250 contribution on Jan. 8, 2011. That in itself was odd, since the Pearce campaign reported it got the contribution three weeks earlier, on Dec. 14, 2010. Hanian said she actually mailed out the check in October 2010, but only reported it as an expenditure when the check cleared the bank -- which apparently was in January. The Pearce campaign did not return a call seeking comment. Bottom line: Pearce has a campaign balance of $31,622, of which $2,823 was raised in the first five months of this year. In contrast, GOP challenger Bob Worsley has $17,621, after raising $66,890 between January and May, records show. The two are vying for the Republican nomination for the state Senate in the new Legislative District 25, which covers Mesa. Pearce is littering East Mesa with his past campaign posters, with Keep Russell Pearce, a good many have endorsed by small business, fire and police etc. I guess any Pearce endorsement in his eyes is a perpetual endorsement. To add to the confusion bother Lester's signs look like they ran off the same print shop. Except for name and office, they are identical. Must be hoping for name reinforcement to help both of them. Yeah let’s keep the Pearce brothers. Keep them off the public official payroll. Know Pearce No Pearce! (either of them)

Worsley is one of the most qualified people to ever run for the state legislature. Russell Pearce has 3 government pensions, and apparently wants a 4th. And he hates Mexicans. And let's be fair, he's not a single-issue politician: he also hates other immigrants too, not just Mexicans.

Pearce is FINISHED. He may as well hang his head in shame. Worsley is a TRUE conservative with a business background. He knows EXACTLY how jobs are created, how to balance a budget, etc. If I lived in LD25, my vote would go to Worsley.

Ok, I've put it off long enough. I know many of you (well, maybe one of you) have been on pins and needles wondering who I might endorse for LD25 this year. Especially since I have absolutely nothing to do with that area and have never been eligible to vote there. That said (drumroll please).... I have NEVER and will NEVER endorse Mister Russell Pearce for anything other than forced retirement. That which occurred a year ago... Whew, I know the MCSO shurf has been wondering who I might endorse. (No, unlike the shurf, I don't charge a cent for my non-endorsements)
