Bennett basically destroyed his chances of getting re-elected. Undoubtably, you did not satisfy the right wing crack pots who will only bring up "x" theory that the document is not proof. Then you have the left and moderates who will clearly think Bennett is out of touch since this birther nonsense was settled nearly 4 years ago. In order to make a select few happy, he destroyed his political career and made himself a laughing stock. How he can even go out in public, or visit a grocery store without someone giggling at him behind his back.

Well, it looks like those of us who hold our noses and still vote in the Republican Primary for the supreme pleasure of writing in Donald Duck or Wile Coyote or the Road Runner might have the distinct opportunity to vote between two distinguished statesmen in Gov. He is putting on his birther shoes just as President Obama's campaign has started fighting back.

Until recently, President Obama and his campaign have made light of the birthers - and rightly so. But in the past several weeks, we've seen the Obama legal camp rise up and start seriously and forcefully swinging back at this absurd, racist, partisan birther charade.

Indeed, the 125 or more consecutive cases the birthers have already lost (a perfect record!) came mostly from an Obama team that showcased its "Empty Chair Strategy," where usually they didn't even have to show up to win.

The next few weeks and months are not going to be so kind to birthers in court. In fact, it's going to get downright ugly for them.

While there a many instances in which to distrust politicians on both sides, this is not one of them. We need to be careful of "false equivalency" when discussing these core, serious issues. The Arizona Democrats, while there might be individual transgressors, do not, in their official capacities set up mythical issues which would illegally rob the entire voting population of the opportunity to decide for itself which candidate to vote for.

Keeping Obama off the ballot is voter suppression and it is no less a violation of civil rights than the attempts of pre-civil rights movement southern states to prevent blacks from voting. In fact, it is just a sorry extension of those laws and practices and the mentality that promotes it.

If such a practice is allowed to stand, then we will be no more a country of "exceptionalism" because of our tradition of democracy and free voting than was South Africa at one time and that is Zimbabwe, the Ukraine or Russia today.

If you want a Teathuglicant state of "Christian" ayatollahs, then keep voting for these dangerous, evil, dare I say it, fascists. Just be prepared for minicams in our bedrooms and an election system in which only the 1% will be allowed to run for office or vote.
