Joe Arpaio's Lawyer Tim Casey's Firm Earns $735K (So Far) Defending Joe's Racial Profiling

Tim Casey: Makin' bank defending Sheriff Joe's racial-profiling ways

Two weeks ago, I reported on a hearing before U.S. District Court Judge G. Murray Snow in the ACLU's big racial-profiling lawsuit against Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Melendres v. Arpaio. During that hearing, Snow scheduled the seven-day trial to begin on July 19.

After the hearing, outside the Sandra Day O'Connor U.S. Courthouse, some weirdness erupted when I attempted to ask Arpaio's lawyer Tim Casey about a statement he'd just made to another reporter. Casey asked my name, and when told, stated that I was not a reporter and that I had used "invective" against him in the past.

Casey then stalked off, after refusing to answer an additional query from me (one repeated to no avail by a TV journalist), wondering how much dough he'd scored from his gig on Melendres

I tagged along with him for about a block and a-half, but he generally refused to communicate with me. Though, at one point, he did perform a sophomoric bit of sign language, which I described in my original post

This aside, the question concerning Casey's take from the Melendres case interested me enough to put in a public records request with the county for the amounts that Casey's firm, Schmitt Schneck Smyth Casey & Even (formerly, Schmitt Schneck Smyth & Herrod), has billed for services rendered.

The result? According to Maricopa County spokeswoman Cari Gerchick, Casey's firm, which has worked the case since it began more than four years ago, has billed the county just over $735,000, so far.

How much has the DoJ spent while doing nothing more than name call?

That too is Arpaio's fault. Ditto the money spent to defend him. Ditto lawsuits from profiling, deaths, etc.

If Arpaio wasn't breakin the law, the DOJ wldnt be fuckin w/him.

What is it about illegal that you and your buttboy Arp don't understand?

It's almost as if you were raised by wolves and have no ability to know whether or not and by whom your being conned. Everybody is always lying except for your buddy Joe. Your a used car dealers dream. Do you do any kind of research at all or is it just sitting in front of your television masturbating while you watch Bill O' Reilly?

So, you are pleased with the DoJ's accomplishments? You are satisfied with their work product and unconcerned with the amount of money they have spent and are going to continue to spend for this mud bog they are calling an investigation?
You blame arpaio for the money being wasted on this charade. I blame the Government. They have all the evidence they are going to get at this point. They refuse to pull the trigger. Either the evidence is there to make a case or it's not. If its there, make your arrests, get your indictments and take this baby to trial. If its not there, close the case and move on.

The criminal is going to continue committing crimes so long as they are allowed to remain free to do so. Who could have been spared the heartache they are experiencing now if the criminal indifference of the Sheriff had been quelled two years prior?

It's idiots like you who kick and scream at arpaio hoping it will make him stop or go away but you are blind to the same antics being orchestrated by the entity charged with policing Arpaio's wrongs. The DoJ is so inept they are mirroring the investigative blunderings of the SO regarding those botched sex crimes everyone is in an uproar about.

This piece of shit article is nothing more than the author using his platform to settle a personal vendetta. I subtly point out the glaring hypocricy that is ignored by lemons and idiots like you peg me an arpaio apologist.

Hendy, Fox and Black won't roll on the MCSO shurf unless they are charged with crimes and are given immunity from prosecution or a dismissal of all charges without the ability to refile said charges.

Ask Andy Thomas how things work out when you go off half cocked and file charges or a claim without completing an investigation (or doing one for that matter), YPS.  Ask Joe Arpaio how all those worked out, eh?

There's no doubt that Stapely and Wilcox could have been nailed.  But, you do a half assed investigation purely out of emotion, well, you get what you got.

The DoJ is under NO OBLIGATION OR LEGAL PRECEDENT to turn over or reveal any evidence they have gathered as no claim (civil) or charges (criminal) have been filed.

As this is a civil matter, until the DoJ officially files a claim, there is no legal precedent that says they must turn over their evidence or witness lists.  You can whine and piss and moan all you want, but what they are doing is no different than what any other attorney would do in any matter.

By the way, YPS, the Feds have a conviction rate of 94%+.

Wonder why?

Ur right about one thing. DOJ should have prosecuted Arp & Co. long ago. At the very leaset, go after the low-hanging fruit: Hendy, Fox, Black.

Hey bud, the chip on your shoulder is huge, that's evident. I read the same article you did and I didn't see anything blaming Arpaio for anything. Stuff a fucking sock in that manhole cover you call a mouth, it fucking reeks near you.
