Joe Arpaio Foe Paul Penzone Scores Endorsements of Paul Charlton, Others

Joe-foe Paul Penzone, racking up endorsements....

Ex-Phoenix Police Sergeant Paul Penzone, the man running as a Democrat against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, recently announced a slew of new endorsements via his campaign website, the most prominent of which comes from former U.S. Attorney for Arizona Paul Charlton, a Republican and stalwart critic of Sheriff Joe.

Other endorsements of note come from the Phoenix Police Sergeants and Lieutenants Association, Arizona state Representative Ruben Gallego, former Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns executive Rich Dozer, and businessman and Democratic rainmaker Fred DuVal.

The announcement states that this is "the first of series of planned endorsements," signalling that Penzone has been busy racking up backers from all sides, perhaps to give a not-so subtle nudge to Scottsdale Police Lieutenant and Independent Mike Stauffer that he should bail from the race.

Dear Lt. Stauffer, thanks for your courageous actions to speak out against Arpaio and your contributions to his eventual defeat, but now we need another courageous action by stepping aside. It's Time. Anymore involvement as a candidate going forward is just aiding Arpaio and splintering off crucial votes needed to ensure his defeat.

Lt. Stauffer is current law enforcement and qualifed to be Police Chief. Sgt Penzone is NOT qualifed to be Police Chief. We would be better served to find out about the corruption that is occuring on the INSIDE of the local democratic party that supresses potential candidates while they hand pick the one they want. The democratic primary means nothing with the corruption that exists within the party. We want a fair primary so THE PEOPLE can pick the candidate NOT the party as is the case with Penzone.

Has it ever occurred to ANY OF YOU that Paul Penzone is a
CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN who suddenly stepped into a pair of Democrat shoes just
to run for Sheriff? Do some research if you don't believe me. I come to Arizona
maybe 6 times a year on work related business and even I know this. The
election won't affect me one way or the other, I’m just saying. And NO I don't
work for OR support Stauffer, I barely even heard of him. I'm a lifelong
Democrat and I don't see any reason to replace Arpaio with another Republican
with similar views. BTW, if you will do a bit of thinking for yourself and stop
letting the media think for you, you would know that in reality neither Penzone
OR Stauffer has the command experience to be the Chief Law Enforcement Officer
of a County the size of Maricopa. Lt? Sgt? Sounds like street level supervisors
to me.

Here's what actually happened because I heard it right out of the mouth of Ann Wallack, Chairperson of the Maricopa County Democratic Pary, at the Grand Dems meeting out in Sun City last night. She said it was hard for her to "find" someone to run and I find it puzzling that the person she chose was an Independent rather that a democrat. She said she had to wine him and dine him for months. She said she talked to his family and friends and called his former employer but she finally convinced him to leave his job, turn democrat and run.
Further, they waited until right after the first campaign finance report was due before Penzone announced so he wouldn't have to provide one until the end of June. He had money behind him right out of the gate but no one, including, Mr. Randy Parraz, wanted to confess where he got the pile of dough right from the start. They still don't want to say anything. The democratic party completely discouraged John Rowan from running and offered NO help. We have a democratic primary for a reason. The people are supposed to select the candidate not the heads of the local democratic party. They practice candidate suppression and Rowan isn't the only casualty.

Funny how he all of a sudden came out of the woodwork with gobs of cash. I wonder if he has friends named Cortes and Pearce?

I agree. I have seen Lt Stauffer and Penzone a couple of times and Penzone is more polished and would be stonger to face Arpaio. Lt Stauffer has already suffered the Arpaio style os politics and has created the whinning in Scottsdale in Stauffer's district of failure to take action.

Of course Penzone is more polished, is experience is IN FRONT OF A TV camera as a spokesman!  I don't know about you, but I'd put my vote behind someone who is talking about ways to clean up this mess rather than be 'polished' in front of the camera. How about deciding who you would vote for based on the law enforcement leadership experience they bring to the table? Arpaio's love of the camera didn't do us any favors, now we want another 'spokesperson'?  So far he's given us nothing to demonstrate that he knows how to get the job done. Penzone needs to step it up and demonstrate he's got a strategy on how to get this done, not just the backing of the Democratic party.

People want to promote Penzone from Sgt. to Chief? There are two things that you need to look at. 1.Absolutely NO command experience. 2. He was a Republican just before he decided to run for Sheriff. I'm not saying Republican is good or bad, only that it seems a little suspicious to me that he was able to back door into the Democrat ticket so easily when there are other Democrats that are far more qualified.

Did you watch both videos linked in this article to Stauffer and Penzone answering basically the same questions? Not only did Penzone have way better presence, but his answers had far more substance.
