Russell Pearce Scores GOP Chairman Tom Morrissey's Endorsement for First Vice Chair

Pearce and Cortes, as envisioned by the wags at PM...

Unless you frequent right wing blogs such as Sonoran Alliance or SeeingRedAZ, you may have missed the tidbit that disgraced ex-state Senator Russell Pearce has won the endorsement of Arizona GOP Chair Tom Morrissey for the unpaid position Pearce is seeking: First Vice Chair of the Arizona Republican Party.

Morrissey's endorsement was never in doubt. He's a stalwart Pearce backer, and spoke at a meagerly-attended rally on Pearce's behalf in Mesa during last year's recall election.

Pearce is running against incumbent Diane Ortiz-Parsons, who, to judge by her website, is as conservative as Pearce. She also apparently has a good reputation, and is respected for the job she's done.

But the consensus seems to be that, being that she's a Latina and that the biggest bigot in the state wants her job, she will be crushed when the vote goes down at this Saturday's state GOP meeting.

Lovely message some Arizona tuskers are sending, eh? If you're brown, we don't want you around, unless your name happens to be Olivia Cortes.

Russell "Prince Albert" Pierce will be the First Chair of Vice. I'll bet he and Senator David Vitter will have lots to talk about. Maybe Vitter can set him up with a good Dominatrix....LOL

Pearce and Morrisey, two pigs that deserve each other.

I can smell the stench on the West side of town.

Also in the gossip beltway of Arizona GOP circles is former Senator Russell Pearce will win the coveted position and Tom Morrissey will step down Viola Former Senator Pearce will be Arizona GOP's new chairman. That's the Word on the Street.

The internal hub-bub in GOP circles is that since Ortiz-Parsons went against the "McCain-Kyl" faction of the state committeeman in pushing Robert Graham for state chairman (against their candidate Ron Carmichael), she is not going to get any of the proxy or other votes from that block.  In the state committeemen ranks, of which I am one, the two major factions are the McCain-Kyl and the "conservative" group (which now has closely aligned itself with all things tea party).  Unless the major leaders in one faction or another back you, your dead in the water.  The conservatives muster a lot of state committeman votes from LD11, LD7, LD4 and the East Valley.  They will most likely succeed in getting Russell in place.  Since proxy votes are allowed, this will be like a corporate take-over - the person holding the most proxies wins.

Should Pearce win -- the leadership of the AZGOP will be almost all white men!  What message is my party sending to women and Hispanics across America?

You just nailed yourself Mrs/Ms. Pennypacker. It's white men that bother you. I was wondering how long it would take for you to come clean, but sooner or later, your'e type always does. Democrat Headquarters, can't be that far away. There, you will find thousands upon thousands of bashers of "white" men, and even "white" women. Follow your heart, I say.

The party is now for nutcases, birthers, young earth creationists and racists.  No thanks.

The message is "Know your place and it isn't here."

I agree with that. Democrat Headquarters for you---> train, taxi, car, bike,or donkey, it can't be soon enough.

If the AZGOP puts Pearce ANYWHERE in their organization, they're clueless.

The LD18 backlash against one extremist will seem like a bad dream in comparison to the STATEWIDE backlash nightmare they'll set-off if they embrace Pearce.

Not Surprised --

I totally agree!!

I am beginning to feel like Clint Eastwood, in Dirty Harry! Should the AZGOP elect Pearce as 1st vice chair - this weekend -- "Go ahead -- make my day!"

Resign from the party maam. It's hyocritical to keep belonging to an organization that you are not loyal to. The all-embracing of humanity, Democrat Internationalist Party of the Sainted awaits you.

Funny you should mention Clint Eastwood.   Morrissey thinks he is Clint.   No joke.

It's time the public hears about and gets informed about these proxy votes/backroom deals.

It's time for the public to be let in on the fact that a big part of what is wrong in our politics and government is because of and being driven by/through "THE PARTIES."

This is true for both the AZGOP and Arizona Democratic Party.  We're not going to improve Arizona politics until we fix what's wrong in both of these organizations.

Someone please, explain to me why any Latino/a, especially in AZ, would be a Republican.

If the R's put Pearce in charge, they will had the state over to the Democrats--provided the Democrats get a clue on how to run campaigns. Who knows why they constantly hire losers to run their campaigns?

If the state GOP allows the wingnuts to take control of their party, they are doomed . . .  and they deserve it.

Pearce was soundly defeated in the recall election (in a heavily populated Republican district) even after all of his slime ball tactics. Doesn't the GOP get it that people of AZ, even their own party, have had it with this guy and people like him.

Pearce and the small group of people like him (wackos) will never give up fighting to control and dominate Arizona politics. I hope the majority of sane people in the GOP don't roll over and let the wack jobs rule the party agenda again.

Dear God.

We need to put an end to corrupt and mentally sick Pearce. Who knows what kind of havoc he'll wreak on the state GOP if he gets control?

Ms. Ortiz-Parsons needs to crush Pearce like the snake that he is (sorry if I insulted any snakes) and send him packing from the state GOP.

It never ceases to amaze me the stupidity of people in Arizona.

Well I look at it this way.  Since the state GOP is too stupid to learn from the recall last year, then maybe he will take a few of the idiots down with him this time.

Hopefully he takes the Flaccid Failure of MCSO, the Bald Bunion of Pinal County, GED Jan, Tom "Conflict of Interest" Horne, John "Homeless Old Guy" Huppenthal, and Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery.

That would be a show worth watching!

There should be an island somewhere remote, say Alaska, where all of the rogue, disenfranchised and generally degraced politicians are exiled to.  A place where they can govern each other .. lie and steal from each other and kill each other... but the sane world from which they were cast will never again hear their voice or see their face.  The way it's shaping up Arizona would be very well represented by a Senate President Pearce, a sheriff Arpiao, a governor Brewer and a plethora of assort legislative personnel.
