Russell Pearce's Relatives and Olivia Cortes Get a Visit from Channel 12's Brahm Resnik

Bravo to Channel 12's Brahm Resnik for tonight's news segment where he pays a visit to the modest residence of Legislative District 18 recall candidate Olivia Cortes, and stops by the homes of some of state Senate President Russell Pearce's relatives to ask them why they circulated petitions for Cortes.

As readers know, my colleague videographer Dennis Gilman and I have paid a few trips to Cortes' humble apartment already, she has never come to the door, allowing her sister to answer on a couple of occasions. In his report, Resnik says he believes he spotted the elusive Cortes, but that she slammed the door as she saw him approach.

Though I've reported on Pearce family members who've signed the petition sheets, and Dennis and I have confronted pro-Pearce folks such as Pat Oldroyd and Dan Grimm at the now-infamous LD 19 meeting from last week, Resnik advances things by knocking on the doors of two petition circulators -- both nieces of the state Senator.

It's one thing when Dennis and I do this sort of stuff, it's another when a TV reporter like Resnik, with the audience he has at Channel 12, goes after Cortes' sham candidacy with such vigor and doggedness. Keep an eye on Resnik, he's doing solid work on exposing the Pearce-Cortes connection.

Olivia Cortes' address is 863 N. Cherry, not 863 W. Cherry as keeps showing up everywhere. Seems like the use of a false address could invalidate her candidacy, if the incorrect version originated with her.

Does anyone know how to contact by email Univision or Telemundo? please share their email address someone needs to send these tv stations a letter they are the primary TV stations that should be covering this and exposing Olivia C. after all Hispanics are most likely the ones that would vote for her if they don't know who she is of course.

If I have a rotten piece of meat in the fridge, it stinks.  I throw it out and the smell goes away.  If I let another piece of meat rot, it will stink up my fridge again.  But I can throw it away too. Eventually I will learn some lessons such as don't keep things in the fridge until they rot.  Watch for the signs of rotting food.  I will also learn that freezing works.  I will also learn that even freezing will not keep meat good for more than a year.

Why can't we get rid of this rotten smelly slime that is russell pearce.

- When something is rotten, get rid of it.  Try someone new.  Fresh ideas.  Bring in an ideology  that is not about corruption and trying to personally gain from being in the legislature at the expense of good government.  There is a shelf life in the fridge.  If the food is not being cycled and renewed, it will spoil.  We don't have to get rid of a politician every election, but we should be seeing fresh ideas and a good focused approach to good government.  Not an approach that funnels money to private prisons, etc. in exchange for campaign support when that increases Arizona's cost of prisons.

- Understand that there are career politicians that do good over a long term.  There are also career politicians that become more desperate and resort to dirty tricks to keep money coming in for their campaigns and represent their benefactors at the expense of the people.  These long-term frozen pieces of meat won't spoil in the freezer, but are certainly not appetizing after a long frozen  stint.  Taken out of the freezer and examined, they spoil almost immediately.  Most of these frozen politicians should just be tossed and replaced with new approaches and ideas that can benefit us.

Joe Kennedy did the same thing for his son JFK.  He enlisted some non-english speaking italian with the same last name as JFK's opponent to confuse and split the immigrant vote.  It was JFK's first election. Not that I am by any means supporting that chicken shit Pearce, but just saying these shananigans happen all the time.  Sunlight my friends, keep shining sunshine on these creeps.

If this voter fraud issue isnt cut at the root , it can only get ugly! This could be a dirty game and if allowed I am afraid not only for the intergrity of the voting process but next thing you know we have 1,000 on the ballot and only 2 real candidates. This voter fraud needs to be address ASAP! Pearce is one dirty man and needs to be taken out of office. People like us don't need this guys to represent of cuty much less our senate!!!

Typical lack of ethics from the swine that Pearce is surrounded with.

At least its getting on the news.  Where in the world is Olivia Cortes?

.....and Pearce knew nothing about it?  You would think this hothead would go ballistic if his own family was working against him.

It might be fun to get Cortes on the stand as suggested to ask about her candidacy and ask her if she has ever met Russell Pearce.  Of course, would she even be honest under oath?

Yes, she probably would answer honestly on the stand or not answer at all if herattorney tells her not to. Would be interesting.

While it does not solve the problem, Olivia Cortes has got to be receiving unexpected attention.  It is doubtful that she came up with the idea of running as a sham candidate.

I think we can be pretty certain that the idea was not sold to her as follows: "You put your name on the ballot and the press will hound you terribly.  You may have to defend your candidacy in court.  You will be forever remembered by 'your' dirty tricks that we will play on your behalf.  You will be selling out your Hispanic heritage as a bargaining chip."

I would guess that it was more like:  "You don't gotta do nothing.  We will get the signatures, pay the fees, make your signs.  We do everything.  You just gotta sign a form.  We do the rest and when it is all over we will give you some cash."

She got promised the Lazy River ride and ended up with the Roaring Rapids ride and she is starting to get worried that there might be a waterfall ahead.

Someone in the so-called mainstream media actually did his job - long after the Newtimes originally exposed it. Dy'a think they read this website to find their leads for stories?

I think they would look everywhere for stories.  It is just how hard they look and their story selection that makes me wonder at times.  This one is a good choice and warrants some aggressive local attention.  The big question now is how deeply this story will be pursued.  This one is got some good potential for an investigative reporter.

Cortez should be disqualified as a candidate, she is obviously not a canditate, she is a fraud.
