ICE Flies Undocumented Immigrants Back to Mexico on U.S. Dime

notworthit.jpg
Signs like this one along the U.S.-Mexico border warn migrants not to cross

The United States government is revamping a program that will fly  undocumented Mexican immigrants back to Mexico City, after they've been caught entering the country illegally.

The feds claim this prevents deaths from dehydration and exhaustion from people crossing the Arizona desert during the hottest time of the year.

But activists cry foul.

"This is not true," says Kat Rodriguez, director of the Tucson-based humanitarian group Derechos Humanos, of the ICE program.

Rodriguez says the real reason the program exists is to spend the left-over budget for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, so the agency can get the same exact amount or more for next year's budget.

If ICE doesn't spend every last dime, the U.S. Congress will see it as a sign that ICE is too flush with cash, and deserves a budget cut, Rodriguez insists.

But Vinnie Picard, ICE's local spokesperson, says otherwise. The program seeks to deter repeat crossings by flying illegal immigrants to Mexico City, far from the U.S.-Mexico border, where migrants would be tempted to try re-entering the U.S.

"We're breaking that link between [immigrants] and the smugglers," Picard asserts.

The program is in partnership with the Mexican government, but the U.S. picks up the bill. Last year the U.S. flew back 23,384 undocumented immigrants at a taxpayer cost of $14.8 million.

This year, the program started July 11, will run through September 28, and will have an estimated cost of $9 million to $11 million.

There is a flight everyday from Tucson. As of today 552 Mexican citizens have been flown back to their country's capital.

Rodriguez says that it is near-impossible to determine if ICE's repatriation program is actually preventing deaths, since there is no guarantee those flown back won't try again.

"Ultimately, it is a waste of taxpayer money," Rodriguez complains.

Also, sometimes bodies go years without being discovered, making it difficult to compare statistics, as well as the efficacy of ICE's repatriations via air. And since undocumented immigrants are entering unlawfully, it's hard to track how many are actually dying in the desert.

"It's different to say how many have died [as opposed to] how many bodies have been recovered," she says.

According to Derechos Humanos' website, this fiscal year, which began in October, there have been 88 bodies recovered.

That doesn't mean these individuals died during that period, that's just when their corpses were discovered.

Last fiscal year saw the second highest number of bodies recovered from the Sonoran Desert during the past decade: 253.

"It would be better using our taxpayer dollars to address why [immigrants] are coming here," Rodriguez says. "If we could understand those issues, then people might not need to come [to the U.S.]."

The more illegal aliens we extricate from this country on a daily/hourly basis the better. Why aren't we shipping them toPanama City? That would really put a kink in prospective aliens' abilities toutilize the services of smugglers. As for the smugly contemptuous Kat Rodriguezand her cronies, they would still cry foul even if the Mexican governmentagreed to foot the bill for flights home. Mexico and other poverty-hemorrhagingnations need to do more to educate and employ their citizens. We're sick and tired ofbeing the dumping ground for their untouchables.

Perhaps we could better use that money building a taller wall to keep them out in the first place!  Why spend money to study why they come here?  They come here from a corrupt third world toilet, but why are we required to just accept and support them?

Send them back on the Hindenburg!

Might it be that by flying the convicted trespassers further into Mexico we are accomplishing two things?

(1) Increased revenue for both U.S. and Mexican businesses related to airline services.

(2) Increased revenue for coyotes since the distance from within Mexico to the border will have increased exponentially.

However, it make take emigrants longer to come up with the money to hire the coyotes, or to trek to the border, thus reducing the actual number of people attempting to cross illegally into the United States. Also, increased fees for coyotes may actually deter some potential emigrants.

I don't care HOW we get rid of the criminal illegals. Just get rid of them. They are useless, filthy, disease-ridden, gun toting, drug crazy fleabags who do nothing but leech off the American taxpayer.

Notice in this article, that all the writer cares about is referring to people that only have the concerns of the foreign nationals that entered the U.S. against its laws. Rodriguez laments the fact that who knows how many "immigrants" have died after being flown back and trying to enter again. He says the millions of dollars spent to fly them out of this country, is," just a waste of money." He never says, that the poor American taxpayers could have used that money to pay unemployment benefits for Americans, pave on of our roads, by school supplies, or anything else that would benefit Americans. But then again, it isn't Americans Rodriguez and company care about. Anyone care to tell me how nuts I am for pointing this out?

Yep, it's alway's the  American taxpayers who are puniished. Why must they fly them back? That's expensive. Why not a train, trucks, buses? Could it be that this open borders administration, (just llike Bush"s, just like Clinton's) does this to depress Americans and get them to just plain give up and accept open borders?

SLIGHT OF HAND..?

This is an urgent red flag day warning for all patrioticactivists as President Obama is flying under the radar in a bid to stay anyprosecutions of Illegal aliens. In a directive memo to ICE Field OfficeDirectors, Special Agents-in-Charge, and all Chief Counsels are NOT to deportillegal aliens, unless they are violent felons.

Now that he has lost the fight to push an illegal immigrationamnesty through Congress, he's trying to win it by bypassing Congressaltogether! Last month, a memowritten by ICE administrator John Morton, an appointee of Pres. Obama, was leakedto the media. This order amounts to a Backdoor Amnesty for millions ofIllegal Aliens who have no legal right to be in the U.S. Obviously, thisorder is flying in the face of decades of clear federal law. When the Labordepartment statistics indicate there are 13 million US born Americans and legalresidents out of work, how can he possibly validate any order as this?

The memo states that illegal aliens are not to bepursued if they meet any of 19 factors, including:

Serves the community, orHas a job, orGraduated from high school, orHas a relative in the U.S. militaryJust to name a few points

How many illegal aliens do you thinkcan be fit into one of those 19 classes! And these are only 3 of the 19conditions that protect illegal aliens from being prosecuted by ICE personnel. This Backdoor Amnesty can be reversed! Even Pres. Obama wasn't brazenenough to issue all these illegal aliens work permits or citizenship papers. Wecan turn back the clock, and we're determined to do so.

Stepping up again to champion common sense is Rep.Lamar Smith (R-TX), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and the manwho leading on H.R. 2164, which is the 50-state mandatory E-Verify bill.Chairman Smith has introduced a bill that can change the situation!

Smith's new HALT Act blocks the Obama BackdoorAmnesty. The details are a bit complicated, but in brief the HALT Act would:

HALT the Obama Administration from canceling the removal of illegal aliens.HALT the Obama Administration from granting work authorization to aliens on a discretionary basis.HALT the Obama Administration from issuing extended voluntary departure to removable aliens.

Of course, we all assume that Pres.Obama would veto the HALT Act if it came to his desk. The purpose of thebill is to at least get the U.S. House on record to create a highly generalpublic showdown in which the President would most likely be humiliated intobacking down.

1) We have to guide H.R. 2164,the 50-state Mandatory E-Verify bill, safely through the House and Senate,AND

2) We've got to reverse Obama'sBackdoor Amnesty. No Backdoor Amnesties! No stateswithout E-Verify protection! No more giving away American jobs to illegalaliens!

After the recession is over, a need for agricultural workerscould necessitate a uniform, expedited legal means to hire migrants with atracking system. Mexico has a tracking method for all persons entering theircountry, while on the other hand the US has millions of visa overstays who havenot returned to their originating country. As of now there is a poorly organizedsystem that estimates 40 percent of tourists, students and others overstaytheir visa departure dates. Learn the facts, not rhetoric at NumbersUSA.

Atthis time, we certainly must reduce--ALL--immigration, when we have a$14.5 Trillion dollar federal deficit. Incidentally, what about the 20million plus already here? Does that population figure not count, whenthe liberal press and the open border zealots try to convince usillegal immigration to the US has fallen off?

No more stealth amnesties must be passed; 6 small amnestieshave found passage since the 1986 Simpson/ Mazzoli bill, with a million or moreforeigners entering America legally each year. The United States will never say“No’ to educated highly skilled professionals like Engineers and Scientists, but here we must draw the line. Right now without secure border, lax federaland State laws, we have been invaded by ECONOMIC illegal aliens that aredepleting this countries entitlement systems.

Joina local Tea Party near you across the country, as there are nowthousands of branches near you, ready to welcome any citizen or legalresident American, without any prejudice against a person religion orracial background. The Tea Party says no more ImmigrationReform--Amnesty, no Sanctuary Cities and no Dream Act.

Then we should renegotiate NAFTA and CAFTA to include a living wage and environmental protections.  All the Mexicans I talked to in Mexico would love to stay in Mexico if they could find a living wage.

Well, now we(American citizens) turn our attention to Indians, because according to the A.P. that's the latest group in violation of our immigration laws. See, it's always about one group with you, but most Americans, in poll after poll, want all illegal immigration stopped, no matter where it's from. We don't want overpopulation and all the ills that go with it. That's a reality realistic people get.(those who's thinking isn't influenced by some ideology that ignores reality.

Hi Five Jason, I totally agree with him.  I would like to add, their FILTHY mouths, all the filthy mexican men think about is sex, molesters...they have been following our landscaping vehicles around stripping them of everything.  We lock them but they carry bolt cutters.  We now hired a guy to hide in the trailers so when it happens they get a big surprise, and are beaten with a baseball bat.  Who is going to call the cops?  THEM.....sure in the hell won't be us.  Kind of fun actually.

"the poor American taxpayers could have used that money to payunemployment benefits for Americans, pave on of our roads, by schoolsupplies, or anything else that would benefit Americans."

The funny thing is that nativist assholes always like to say "the Mexicans should fix their corrupt government so they don't have to come here." But Americans are obviously incapable of fixing their own corrupt government. Why arrogantly demand that others do what we are incapable of doing?

"It would be better using our taxpayer dollars to address why [immigrants] are coming here," Rodriguez says. "If we could understand those issues, then people might not need to come [to the U.S.]."Immigrants are coming to the US to escape the drug war and because of NAFTA, CAFTA and all the other trade deals giant corporations have made with our respective governments.During the campaign both Obama and Hillary promised to re-negotiate NAFTA to include a living wage and environmental protections.  Not one word about it since. We have heavy metal pollution from Mexican slave labor factories showing up on the beaches of San Diego.  They treat these migrants like slaves everywhere they go trying to find work because of our terrible trade policies.  A tragedy for human rights.People should be demanding these changes.  It is sickening.

Flying is actually cheaper than surface transport when personnel costs are thrown in. Google JPATS or watch US Marshals the movie. US marshals and ICE personnel fly deportees every day. It would cost much more to pay personnel to transport them any other way. Also, Mexico does not want US personnel operating in their country, especially if they are armed. The officers on planes aren't armed with lethal weapons and don't need to be as their passengers are carefully searched and handcuffed during the flight. In flight no one else can intervene or threaten US personnel.  Bush deported more than Clinton, and Obama has deported more than Bush. Bush and Obama have continually expanded the Border Patrol to 21,000 agents and fewer illegal immigrants are coming in. More are leaving voluntarily. There is no justification for your open border charge.

Really?

Report: Less than 1 per cent of US northern border under operational controlAUGUSTA, Maine - Less than 1 per cent of the 4,000-mile U.S.-Canada border is considered under the operational control of U.S. border officials, according to a report released Tuesday by the Government Accountability Office

Crossers include people seeking to immigrate illegally, criminals trafficking humans and smuggling drugs, and, potentially, terrorists, said U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, who released the report with Lieberman.

It says the Border Patrol was aware of all illegal border crossings on only 25 per cent of the 4,000 mile (6437.08 kilometre) border.

It also found that illegal crossings by terrorists are more likely along the northern border than they are across the southern border.

Why do you have to be a nativist to realize the Mexican government should clean up its criminality? You can still say we are corrupt also. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Bobby

Sure, I agree. But here YOU are of all people, and many on this blog , including others across the nation, (everyone knows who they are by now) that do everything in your power to prevent those that want to clean up the borders situation, and make the borders mean something again. Why would the corrupt Mexican government care to do anything for its own people, when they can continue to use the U.S. as one big pressure valve because  they can rely on the leftists, chambers of commerce cheap labor types, and other traitors in the U.S.?

Bobby
Bobby

That's because as I've stated a thousand times in different blogs, the left is all talk and no action. In fact, their much more hypocritical than the conservatives, who admit they're for big corporations. The left says they aren't for big corporations but for protecting "human rights", etc. Yeah, sure. By the way Shanon, Americans get laid off, and treated like crap also, across the country. It's my contention, that if Americans demanded their rights, maybe Mexicans would get theirs. That's why I believe in forcing the administration to follow and take seriously the laws Americans have created including the immigration laws. Mexican get treated the way they do, as well as Americans today, precisely because the laws aren't taken seriously. Mexico is a rich nation. Did you know that? Among the nations of the world, it is far, far, from being poor. You and others, tend to put too much of a burden on Americans, who have enough problems.

No we don't. People are going to be working longer because they can't retire, so bad is the economy. Overpopulation is disastrous for every country in the world that has it.

Obviously you do not watch the news, if you are ever offended by them, don't complain.  If you work, you are supporting their dozen filthy kids they make.  Next time you are in a grocery store, don't buy anything out of the bulk food, these nasty kids go through eating out of them, the parents are off shopping, the don't care what the nasty things are doing so long as they are out of their hair.  Just a grocery checker of 17 years.  Yes, keep in mind and if you look on the internet you will probably find the large mexican that grabbed a little girl in the dollar store, trying to rape her down one of the isles. These worthless pieces of crap in my agricultural area steal cars, drink, drive, kill and at the scene of the accident if they live through it (darn it) take off running like the filthy low life rats they are through the orchards.....

Bob lablaw96, you bring up an excellent point that most people have forgotten especaill those that love to blame the U.S. for all of Mexico's problems. Absolutely true, that the corrupt Mexican government stole the money of those returning farm workers. They were always corrupt and are now.

Bob_lablaw96
Bob_lablaw96

Ummm, actually, the Mexican government screwed the Braceros out of the money that our government had withheld on their behalf.

And, by definition, every illegal alien is a criminal.

Where is the proof that all of these poor, downtrodden, attractive and successful illegals pay the taxes that would be taken from you or me under the same income?  Is there any study to show what percentage of them actually pay taxes? (Hint: It takes a Social Security number or Taxpayer ID to be able to pay taxes.  If you use a phony number, how can it be traced at all).

The less attractive we can make it for them to come here, the better for all.  There is hunger and crime all over the world.  Should we open our borders, hospitals, and schools to any poor person that can find a way to sneak in here?

The Mexican government is waiting anxiously for another amnesty program.  Then, they can get rid of all of their poorest, and the largest drain on their own country and send them all to us.  They will never send a doctoral candidate thru Nogales

Moche8
Moche8

No one want "criminals" to continue to commit crimes, whether or not they are legal citizens or migrants.  Not all undocumented people in the USA are "criminals'  It is a ridiculous stance and does nothing to address issues of human rights, fairness or justice.  We are a nation of immigrants.

Reagans amnesty was not a guest worker program.  We had one in the '50's and unfortunately, these workers ended up being screwed by the US government.  We can do better.  We certainly should have another amnesty for the undocumented that factors in whether or not they have been paying taxes and are being good citizens in their communities.

Because right now we are putting people who are married to American citizens, are taxpayers and good neighbors, and putting them in jail at taxpayer expense!  All for lack of paperwork.  It makes the for profit prison system happy, but it is a huge waste of tax payers money and human resources.

Jason
Jason

Are you saying that because I don't support the criminal illegals that I am stereotyping people? If so, please explain your reasoning.

It seems that none of our elected representatives want to do anything about this issue. We have tried a guest workers program (remember Reagan's amnesty deal?) that fell flat on its face.

The feds flying the criminal illegals out of the United States is just a temporary solution to a long-term problem.

Moche8
Moche8

You are stereotyping people.

Jason

Tommy and Shanon,

You know my position regarding the FF of MCSO and PLEA. I don't like or support either of them. At the same time, we elected our federal politicians to do SOMETHING regarding the criminal illegals. Napolitano may not have the resources to go after all the criminal illegals, but she can get rid of some of them.

I do not support illegal immigration and I know you don't either. Race has nothing to do with my statement. I just want a solution, at the federal level, to resolve this situation.

The feds are simply doing their job (for once). I am merely expressing support.
