Trent Franks' Latest: Barack Obama's "Ideological Commitment" to "Weaken America"

The fun comes about 53 seconds in

The lefty blog Political Correction is pimping this video of Arizona Congressman Trent "Hoof-in-Gob" Franks on the House floor warning the American public of the "ideological commitment of this administration to weaken America."

Thing is, as dumb as that statement may be, it's the kind of garbage that's regularly spewed by the likes of conservatard Glenn Beck and others. Hell, today on his radio program, Beck was comparing progressives to National Socialists. You know, Nazis.

That comparison is as whack as some lefty tree-hugger comparing George W. Bush to Adolf Hitler. Sorry, Glenn, no one in the Democratic Party that I know of wants to stick people in ovens. Neither did Bush II, for that matter.

Franks' recent remark pales in comparison to those he's made in the past and to those made by other Arizona politicians. You may recall, for instance, that back in February, Franks suggested African-Americans were better off back in slave times.

While I appreciate Political Correction for catching this latest inanity from our Second Congressional District's Rep, it's small change when you consider state Senator-elect Russell Pearce's comment at a November conference of wingnuts that Obama has a "jihad" against America, and specifically the state of Arizona.

During the same conference, Pearce also claimed that the U.S. Department of Justice's lawsuit over Pearce's breathing-while-brown statute SB 1070 was an impeachable offense for the President.

So you'll forgive me if I find Franks' statement to be less than clock-stopping. Measured against the level of public discourse in our Tea Bagging body politic, this ain't nothin' folks. Sad to say.

In a climate where Obama is painted as a "socialist" and American citizen tots of undocumented parents are reviled as "anchor babies," the bar for outrage is just too damn high.

Franks is one of the most embarassing, moronic congressman ever. He doesn't have a thought that geniuses like Phyllis Schafly or Glen Beck didn't give him. He considers it an honor to get a Defender of the Family Award from wingnuts like Schafly. He constantly regurgitates complete nonsense from Fox News and World Net Daily, as facts, when they are flat lies. He keeps repeating flat lies, even when he knows they are flat lies. Bob Stump was Lincoln compared to Franks. Franks is the Theodore Bilbo of Arizona. Franks and Baby Quayle are both the results of fractured Republican primaries who will grace us with their insanity for years.

How does this fool keep getting re-elected? With each passing election, I become more ashamed of my once proud state.

To modify a Lily Tomlin line:Most Arizonians are sane, hard working people. It's that 5% who give us a bad name. But then again, we elect them.

I guess the name calling, fear mongering campaign tactics work. Having a large war chest to televise and saturate misinformation is more effective than a policy position.

Today, party affiliation and block voting is killing us. It is difficult to find a politician who votes for their people rather than how their party power dealers dictate. Both federally and state, it is the D or R that determines legislation, not ideals, merit, or rational thought. Elected moderate men/women who serve their district, rather than the party, do not receive party backing and do not serve a second term resulting in even a more extreme, no compromise, legislature advocating wacky laws instead of solving our real problems.

The same way the MCSO shurf is re-elected. By voters who are too lazy to research candidates and vote party line. By a party being led by those such as Randy Pullen. I know your question was posted as a rhetorical, wolf, but I had to chime in.... sorry.

Trent Franks is f'king nuts. His whole platform has been against a woman's right to choose. Ideological my ass.
