Russell Pearce, Corrupt Bigot, Elected Arizona Senate President

picresized_th_1288843756_kkkkk 253.jpg
Something wicked this way comes...

If you thought Senate Bill 1070 was bad, there's far worse on the way.

That's because Senate Republicans have picked a new president: 1070 "author," state Senator Russell Pearce, Arizona's Pope of Prejudice.

Pearce figures Governor Jan Brewer "owes" him for saving her career, bullying 1070 through the legislature, giving her a racist piece of legislation to sign, one scapegoating Hispanics, and diverting attention from the state's $2 billion budget shortfall.

And he's right. Brewer owes Pearce like some owe the rent. If she'd not had 1070 at her back, and a wave of xenophobia to ride, she might've never made it out of the GOP primary.

What will this Sand Land-version of P.W. Botha want in return?

For Brewer to sign a slew of Nuremberg-type laws aimed at Hispanics. Sure, he wants to deny birth certificates to American citizen children born in this country of illegal immigrant parents. This, in outright defiance of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

But for this champion of "states rights" -- code words for white supremacy -- that's only beginning.

In the past, he's tried passing bills through the legislature that would have prevented American citizens from marrying non-American citizens, and proposals to force landlords to check someone's immigration status before renting them an apartment.

Such legislation never made it far. But that was pre-Brewer, pre-1070. Now the state GOP has written Pearce a blank check. And I can promise you he will cash it.

A recent NPR story highlighted the connection between the private prison industry and Pearce. But his ties to nativist organizations such as the Federation for American Immigration Reform, and FAIR's top law dog Kris Kobach, now Kansas' Secretary of State, are far more profound.

Don't get me wrong. Pearce is sleazy. Anyone familiar with the story of how he got canned from his one-time job as head of the state's Motor Vehicle Division, knows that. (Read more on the scandal, here.)

But what drives Pearce is not the love of money. Rather, what drives him is an implacable hatred of Latinos. He is a bigot, first and foremost. See, Pearce was a nativist long before being a nativist was cool. Well, it's still not cool, but you know what I mean.

And nativism is a perverse, despicable ideology, one that has to be periodically stomped out of existence, a la Gangs of New York.

Pearce is Arizona's Bill the Butcher, you see, only far more dangerous.

SB 1070 was not bad.  It was the best thing to happen to America in a very long time.  As a result of 1070, Georgia, Alabama, and Utah passed similar bills, and other states have them on the drawing board.

Even Muammar Pearce knows he’s gone Gadaffi.

It is incredible how many uneducated people have posted their comments on this page. Quit making fun of Arizona for sticking up for our state's rights. Illegal immigrants cost Arizona alone $2.5 billion dollars last year alone. Our state is bankrupt and can no longer sustain itself BECAUSE of illegal immigration. Do some research, get some education on the issue, then you can talk!

Obviously on a true leftist website 95% of the comments are extreme hatred of anything that makes sense. The left would rather open the borders and drain what's left of America into Mexico. Well that's not going to happen. You are the ones without power and will stay that way now that the people have finally woke up and said enough is enough. You like Mexico? Please go there and you can have all the freedom you want. Of course it don't work quite that way but most of you seem to think it's a wonderful place with nothing but good citizens coming across the border to 'help' Americans. Stay tuned potheads and liberals, the best is yet to come.

How is being against ILLEGALS bigoted? Stop playing the bigot race card Mexicans. You're NOT Native American Indians, when will you all finally wake the #$%^ up and accept who the 3#$% you truly are....

You better thank your god that someone IS looking out for our country. The men that wrote the constitution never expected a flood of illegals to take over Our streets that We pay for. When an american taxpaying citizen has to wait Hours at the hospital ER behind a slew of illegals, there is something seriously wrong with our country. My country. Do you think if we went to any other country that they would put up with us being there and allow us to take advantage of their people and system? NO! So if you want to support illegals why don't you just move to Mexico and let us know how well you are taken care of!Pro America... Pro 1070...

Maybe he doesn't "hate" Mexicans, maybe he just feels better when they are not around.

Republicans viewpoint: If it aint the Mexicans' fault, it's the Muslims', or the blacks or the poor or the feminists or the gays or the conservationists or the... watch out, you're next. Their list won't be complete until it's illegal to have full citizenship unless you're white, male, christian, middle aged and earn more than $300,000 per year. They are the exact mirror image of the taliban filth in the middle east. Why are they always wanting to tamper with the constitution? Because it contains truth and fairness that obstructs them, that's why. But if you don't vote, because you don't think it's cool, they'll keep scaring enough ignorant folks into electing them until all your rights are gone baby gone like a salmon to a mama grizzly, so: VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

I have it on good authority...Pearce bullied, lied and threatened his way through the rounds of voting in the caucus to become the Senate President. He also bullied, lied and threatened to get SB1070 passed. And I have it recorded that he bullied, lied and put fear into voters to get into office the first time..."Vicente Fox is giving guns to Mexicans and placing them on the border to invade us." (Pearce's comments made from door to door in Mesa back in the days when Vicente Fox was president of Mexico) He misrepresents himself, the immigrants, his religion, his state...Remember folks, Hitler had the support of enough Germans to bring to fruition a terrible, evil war...with devastating results to millions. He is in power...the bully will not change his ways...everybody ask him, "How long were you exactly at Harvard? Specifically, how many days exactly did you spend at Harvard, Mr. Pearce?" Seven days? Now THAT is an education!

1070 has done what it was intended to do. That purpose is to promote politicians and rally sentiment to get some persons elected. It won't do anything to alleviate or cure the illegal immigration problem. Sure, a few leave because of fears. But as long as there is work, they will be replaced.

Mr. Pearce, Perhaps you can tell us what you are going to going to do as Senate President to really address the illegal immigration problems and how you are going to measure your success. How will you really cut off availability of work for illegal immigrants? So far, Arizona has not had the fortitude to enact legislation that goes after businesses hiring illegals and supporting politicians. Perhaps you might be honest with us and provide the truth as far as numbers and information that support your positions. If the border is so wide open, why are human smugglers even needed?

As far as the budget goes, don't forget to work on that too.

Russell Pearce is a sick old man whose primary agenda is to benefit the MCSO shurf.

Wonder what'll happen when his buddy Joe gets indicted and perp-walked? Who will you benefit now, Russell?

where is the latio vote? what happened to waking the sleeping giant? where were the rallies? the get out and vote drives? or is that only popular when its a presidential election?its sad he was elected...but he was ELECTED. all the 10s of thousands of poeple who came out to protest sb1070 did NOTHING when it counted...that being showing up and VOTING. i guess the sleeping giant fell back asleep.

Even as someone who leans to the GOP I find Russell Pierce disgusting. He wants to change our constitution .... I mean jeez the tea party people cry about how we don't follow the constitution but then they support some guy who wants to mess with it. His idea for getting rid of the 14th Amendment will just open up a can of worms that could be misused even more so then to target Mexican Nationals having children here. Its sad that his district is over 30 % Latino...I wish more people in the Latino community would get out and vote on election day but sadly not enough do so one segment of the community really decides who is in charge "OLD PEOPLE" yes that is the key power base for these people. Yes there are rednecks and people who just don't understand what a threat this type of guy really is but the Old People are the ones that always make sure to vote. My fellow Latinos need to get on the ball and start to be active in this countries politics and realize America is their country and that means we should start to assimilate more. There is nothing wrong with being proud of where you come from but we shouldn't just keep to our own kind like a lot of us do and not make efforts to learn English. It holds us back from taking full advantage of what this country has to offer just by the simple fact that many of us don't speak English. My grandmother didn't know one bit of English when she came here but she made an effort to learn and she speaks English pretty well. I'm just worried that we are limiting ourselves too much and allowing racist people to take advantage of this.

NancyP says "the voters have spoke" - Jan Brewer, is that you?

And why drag the Mormon church into this? Has anyone ever mentioned that Arpaio and Thomas are Catholics or Brewer and Henderschott Protestants? Mormons generally speaking hate this guy. His west Mesa district is 30% Hispanic and less than 20% Mormon - blame them.

Mormon bigots voted this right wing piece of Mierda in again. Until the Mormon community puts their vote where there mouth isn't they will always be the cult that most Christian faiths believe they are. Nancy, did you know that California has a Republican governor and the legislature there is pretty much split dems and reps? Every mormon should be embarrass of having this fucken cocksucking prick in their church. We are a diversify country today and this guy wants us to be like 1950s Mississippi with has "states right" agenda. He says that illegals have stolen the image of african americans from the 14th amendment but, knowing this dipshit how racist he is he probably beat on blacks when he was a sheriff cause they were niggers to him. Seriously this dumbass has a intelligent of a 10 year old.

Thank god I moved out of this racist state. Although I'm not a latino, I was getting sick and tired of hearing about illegal immigration. New Mexico is a much saner state. The house and senate are still controlled by sane democrats, who have much more important things to worry about. The only thing they are talking about is not giving a driver's license to illegals, although that won't happen till the new governor is sworn in, in january.

We got this from E-mail "equityct@yahoo.com," account name "Bill Stoller," but we couldn't confirm whether it's him or not. He did not answer any of his many phone and Skype exchanges. Here's the E-mail in part,

"Tommy C's right. There won't be any objective reporting in The Feathered Bastard because Lemons is a left-wing attack journalist. We don't know whether he's really a "Commie" as he claims, but he's within his First Amendment rights.

We need provocateurs like Lemons to stimulate debate. He's actually caused some Associates to take a few steps back, look at what Pearce is doing, and criticize him when necessasry. A few Associates feel that Pearce is making them look bad, but overall he has tremendous support."

I personally like Senator Pearce for taking on his opponents and never backing down. Yes, I know that's going to get me pulverized in here, but I don't care.

This was certainly an objective piece of journalism...NOT. The author is either too young to know what journalism truly is, having been educated by liberally-biased professors, or he/she is stuck in 1970's hippy mentality. Wake up and smell the justice. 1070 is not bigotry. It is a law that supports "justice for all." It includes the other emigrants that have followed the legal process as sell as the American taxpayers that are paying the bills for those that overwhelm the state services. But its easier for you to sit in your comfy desk chair and write cheap headlines and personal attacks.

1070 is giving police even more power then they have had. What people do not realize is ALL have lost significant rights, NOT just Hispanics. This is a tragic decision for the people of Arizona. Nothing has changed. It's only gotten worse. When legislators who were former law enforcement are allowed to write the laws, it is biased in their favor and that does not serve the people well. They have the badges, the power, the resources and money to do as they please. We don't have to look far to see how police charge into someone's home without a search warrant, shoot a pet dog and point blank kill an unarmed family member. Who will be next?

Tommy Collins

Oh Bud, you're such a twit. Think about it.... the section is called Feathered Bastard. Does that imply fair and impartial reporting? I would not think so. It's articles based on the opinion of the author, based on information garnered by the author and/or others.

I read the works by Mr. Lemons almost daily and agree with much of what he writes and disagree with some.

Your weakly placed diatribe about SB-1070 is just that. Weak. It's apparent you've likely spent far too much time sniffing the chairs of pearce and the like of him.

let me tell you, from the results it seems Pearce only beat Sherwood by 5k votes...in a district heavily populated by Mormons, and the church isnt quite thrilled with his new endeavors. See, while he was writing 1070, the LDS church was in the midst of heavily recruiting Latinos, most who welcomed them with open arms. After 1070 passed and word got out Pearce is Mormon, doors got slammed in the missionaries faces. The pressure needs to be put on his next election, sooner rather than later (yes im volunteering by the way), and the LDS church for not taking a stand against him and his racism. i for one, will be telling anyone who listens about his nazi emails, attendance at white power rally's, etc, until i change minds or am blue in the face..and doing what I can to help Sherwood or anyone willing to run against russ...Anyone else want to join me?

i hope even half of this is true. the only hope for our once great nation is to regress to a 1924 immigration act style policy. even then will probably take a good bit of ethnic hygiene and discipline among enforcers.

What's all this negativity towards Pearce, he's a great guy. He helped me with the DUI on my driving record and his son hooked me up with an "alternative" ID card when I needed one. I don't get it.

here some comments in the news about russell pearce:Grants Woods, The co-chairman of Gov. Jan Brewer's campaign actually seems to believe that his candidate won the election.I don't view Pearce as a leader in this state," Woods told me. "I view him as a person who was elected in his district and that's it. He has his right to his viewpoint, and I respect him for fighting for it. But it's time for everybody else to stand up and say we have more important issues."I expect they'll use Pearce's plan to rid the state of what he calls "anchor babies" to cover up the budget disaster.Woods believes that Brewer can stop them."Not only is this issue (the 14th Amendment fight) not important to the state, but it is destructive to the state," he said. "Why do this when the state's economy is in tatters?"And how will a group of unimaginative lawmakers with limited math skills react? Easy: Blame the babies.Read more: http://www.azcentral.com/arizo...

But then Goddard sounded a note that was curiously absent during the campaign. He denounced the climate of hate, fear and scapegoating that the state GOP has so gleefully encouraged."This state that we love is not, has never been and must not become a place of hatred and racial unrest," Goddard spoke in a strident tone that had escaped him as a candidate. "We must resoundingly reject Russell Pearce and those that would make our great state a poster child for racial discord in this nation. We cannot allow that to happen to Arizona." ( phoenixnewtimes.com)

Tommy Collins

Again, why didn't Mr. Goddard much such a strong statement during his campaign about this inflated bag of flatulence known as pearce? I can only hope that the state Dem party is paying attention to the result of this election. Somebody other than Felecia in the party needs to show they have a set... and I NEVER saw that from Mr. Goddard.

And there you have the reason why Goddard lost. He was a flaccid dem insider with no courage and no charisma. You could drop both his balls in a thimble and they would rattle around like BBs in a boxcar.

I find Woods statements unrealistic, personally.

I just don't see any of them going against Pearce. They sure acted quickly in appointing him Senate President.

It is mainly due to Pearce/1070 that Brewer - and most of those elected - were voted for.

It's ironic that the right claims this election was "about change, fiscal responsibility and taking 'Our Country' back". And then Arizona voters go and do what they did...voting in candidates that will do - and have proven it - nothing about any of those three.

They owe Pearce their election and Pearce will remind them of that.
